Has anyone fitted a track fairing seat unit to a bike with abs?
It seems obvious to me that I just need to cut out the bit underneath that won't go over the abs gubbins?

Just wondered if it is that simple before I get hacking and if anyone has any pics of there's?

I doubt the seat unit will actually go anywhere near the underside area where the ABS bulge is.

I can tell 100% it will not fit as it is just by holding it up, I'm going to have to modify it. Just wondered if anyone else has done it before

I've had a go, not quite finished but almost there, just got to trim a little more and tidy it up before painting

Hey buddy - did you use the original subframe for this? Not sure if its my computer - but I can't make out if it is standard or one to fit the fairing - it all lookos black and I can't make anything out?

I am looking for some track day fairings for my ABS and not sure how is best to go about the rear with thr ABS buldge - and your efforts look great.

Its a standard road version sub frame, when you buy a unit I found there were 2 different units, 1 to fit standard sub frame and another to fit HRC style sub frames. What the difference is I don't know.

I removed the tailtidy bit and made a small shelf out of 2mm ally and bolted it on through existing holes so the alarm, bazzaz, speedohealer etc has somewhere to rest on.
Basically kept cutting bits out of the unit until I could slide it over. The black plastic under tray bit slots just inside about 20mm of the unit to stop it all falling out.

I will get some better pics at the weekend so hopefully you can see what I'm trying to explain.

Overall it was not very hard to do, just took my time

Mate that would be great - I think I understand what you've said already! Thanks for the explanation thus far though. Did you choose this particular rear section because you thought it would be more suited to the abs bulge, or you just got any old one and hope for the best?

I liked the way the seat pad and bum stop looks when its on and made sure it was for standard sub frame and bought it.
I looked for ages but could not find any for an ABS blade so I thought if it fits a standard subframe I'm half way there

What's the difference between the abs subframe and non abs? I cut my subframe up (non abs model) to get my race unit to fit

The subframes are the same, but the abs bikes have the abs pumps and other gubbins sitting beside the battery - hence the abs 'bulge' that you can see beneath the seat and coming out from the subframe.

here are some pics firstly to show how the unit slides over the black plastic bit of the bulge

next is the plate i made quickly out of some ali i had hanging around. i could make something better if i bought some ali but it does what i need it to do for now.
I did make a deeper one to begin with but the unit would not fit back on the bike so i made a shallower one, there really is not much room to play with. you can see on the corner of the bend facing the rear of the bike where it still just rubs slightly when the unit goes on/off, im going to try and file the corner down a bit or bend it in with a hammer :)

next is some side shots to show how how shallow it needs to be, you also cant have anything higher than the subframe or the unit will not fit

lastly here is a top view, the allen key button head screws are the ones holding the plate up, the holes were already in the subframe so i did not drill anything.

I dont know if you have or will be fitting a PC5 or bazzaz but when installing the bazzaz they recommend fitting the loom down the left side of the bike, also the instuctions pictures are for a non ABS blade. This proved for me to be rather difficult due to all the ABS pumps, ABS ECU, alarm and speedo healer looms etc already down the lefthand side. so i installed the bazzaz and Z-AFM looms down the right hand side where there was a nice gap past the ABS ECU for the plugs to fit through.
I know if you were building a track only bike you could save some room by removing the alarm and rear indicator wires but this is also my road bike so everything ive done on the bike can be easily reversed and put back as it was when i got it from mr honda

hope this helps you out a little, if you have any more questions just fire away
