Hi, no progress yet, as I said the remap made no difference for me, the fuel filter was not replaceable, so at present I have a set of plugs on order having removed mine, they didn't look too great. I didn't want to put the whole thing back together and then go back to change plugs. I have cleaned just about every cable connection I can find with an electrical spray, so new plugs and give it a try, I will use the temp gun to see if that gives any clues, it will be next week now as I am away the weekend but will report back when done. Have a good read through this thread, there have been some very good suggestions.
I've got a set of plugs coming and I'll check everything. I'm also thinking about a post from USA on injectors overrunning and causing the vibration. I was going to PCV this blade and it may come sooner than I think if this problem hangs around. If I get any joy I'll let you know. It's definitey through running. Anything mechanical would be showing itself by now and wouldn't be affected by simple things like oil change.
Hi I had my ecu reset but it made no difference, I have now changed the plugs but again no difference, next step tomorrow will try the heat gun on the headers and see if I can identify any temp difference, if that doesn't throw up any clues then I will try TPS then camshaft sensor. If that doesn't do it then maybe look at the injectors. I will keep this thread updated along the way, maybe someone else will come up with another option.
I've also checked balancer for correct assy and its fine. One thing I notice is that when it's running the frame and motor is hardly got any vibration but the Airbox and ecu wiring harnesses are going at it ten to the dozen. I feel like the vibes are coming from that. Would that be the injectors and running causing that vibe?
Just speaking with an ex bsb technician on cbrs. He said try shopping the lower injectors for the upper ones to try and identify where in the running range we might have an out of balance. Apparently you can balance thr throttle bodies. I will have a look tonight in how easy they are to get at and I'll keep you updated
Just an update but I have had no joy in resolving this issue. I changed the plugs and bought a single coil stick which I have tried replacing each of the existing coil sticks in sequence. Result, not a coil stick problem, or plug problem. One idea mentioned earlier is to replace the TPS but it seems that this is integral to the throttle bodies and a second hand unit is approx. £100 not a problem in itself but if that doesn't cure it then what next and at what expense, camshaft sensor or crankshaft sensor could also be the problem. Neither of them particularly cheap. I think my next step is going to be cleaning out the injectors in an ultrasonic tank which I luckily have access to. Will post back again when I have tried that, but the enthusiasm is waning so I'm not sure when that will be. If anybody has any other ideas then I would be glad to hear from you.
Over the years I've had problems like this with all sorts of petrol engines that have been left with fuel in for an extended period, from outboards, MX bikes to chainsaws. The problem has typically been the fuel evaporating in the fuel delivery system, Carb/injector sys. when it evaporates it leaves what can only be described as a brown lacquer, its a bu$$er to shift. Carb cleaner and elbow grease does it. I think your Ultrasonic idea is a good un. But I would go from tank to injector and clean the lot. Pig of a job, but you want a permanent solution. Good Luck, Mike.
