Hi everyone hope you are all well, just on the island at the moment on my 2011 got the later shock fitted but still earlier forks,

Been having a hard time of it getting the bike set up quite alot of banging of the front end bout 12.5stone

Know its personal but what way has everyone gone set up wise

    I had

    Front forks
    1.75 out rebound from hard
    2.5 compression from hard
Preload 9.5 turns from full softt

    Rear shock
    1.1 out rebound from hard
    Comp 1.5 out from hard
    Preload notch 5 from soft
Very sharp handling but horrendous on bumps

Cant double check sags as girl I'm with couldn't hold the bike

    ------

    Now at
    Rebound 1.75 out
    Comp 3 out
    Preload 6 from soft

    Rear
    Preload 4 (standard)

    Rebound about 2 out
    Comp 3.5 out

Handling isn't as sharp any more still a bit bangy and not settling

What would you guys all try direction wise

I'd probably go back to standard settings while on the island and having problems as standard settings are designed for your weight!

I'm near 15 stone plus leathers and my settings for the road ended up being just about the same as standard settings (within a quarter turn) apart from the preload with is in the 8-10 turns front and 6 notches rear IIRC. You'll need more preload if you're 2 up.

    Standard is

    Forks
    6 turns preload from minimum
rebound (top of the fork) 2-1/4 turns out from full hard,
comp (bottom) 2 turns out from full hard

    Shock

    preload collar 4th notch
rebound (bottom of shock) 2-1/4 from full hard
comp (top adjuster) 2 out from full hard.

These are for the 08-11 bike tho so cannot help with setting for the standard 12 m.y. shock.

Cheers everyone, didn't realise standard was for my weight haha

If anyone has then standard settings for the 12 shock massivly apreciate it,

Know kais were struggling to get the rebound setup correctly as they said there was barely any adjustment on them and same for the shock, guess everything is exagerrated as bobbing on at a rate of knotts lol + I keep going down all the roads near foxdale horrendous condition don't look bumpy till you pull up and look at them haha, been messing on the billown alot to loads of fun, but back bit near bombhole I rough as haha noticed the back shock seems quite slow when you do the seat push just feels really unballanced so be interesting to try stock

    Cheers

    Tom

You seem to have way too much rebound and not enough compression. It's gonna be a mixed bag!

    Mate

Standard 12 onwards rear shock is

Rear Compression 2 Turns back from Full Clock (Hard)
Rear Rebound 2.5 Turns back from Full Clock (Hard)
    Rear Preload 4/10

I run this and it takes most of what's thrown at it on the road, but there maybe be a number of variances on a 14 plate bike it will have no relevance

Rear Compression 3 Turns back from Full Clock (Hard)
Rear Rebound 2 Turns back from Full Clock (Hard)
    Rear Preload 6/10

    Same weight as you

Cheers everyone first settings were done by a suspension specialist was really surprised when I dialed it out,

Going to dial in stock in a bit and see how I get on with that fingers crossed it gets a bit of balance back into the bike feels really disjointed
One thing that has crossed my mind is if the front forks are tweaked from that incident I had, didn't intend on using it for the tt but my rzv 500 blew its engine few days before haha

I have to be honest, I got some settings from Dave Moss and for a track bike they may have been good BUT mine is a road bike and it's so much more compliant and just does what it's supposed to.

Just had a wee ride up through foxdale and glen Helen on standard settings, miles better more predictible, front still feels like its firm and a,bit bangy/ skippy on the front

Thinking maybe take quarter of a turn out on the front and the rear compression? Rebound is reacting faster now and more controlled when I push down

Has anyone had any squeaking of the big piston rear shock

    Cheers,

    Tom
