Not made a post for a while but been on every other day reading and enjoying everyone else's posts and banter.
Finally got the limiter off the bm today, the Blade was awesome but this is a bit mental.
It was 3 times the price of my Blade but it's certainly not 3 times the bike, you only live once and all that.....
In saying that, I'm getting used to all the electronics and the quick shifter is very good. I'm not sure I could go back to having no rider aids again after having them tbh.
The DTC has a bar graph on the dash to tell you the percentage of intervention and it is interesting to see how much you can actually roll the throttle on out of a tight corner before it kicks in.
The blade turned in well but this really is the next level, but to be fair it has the lightweight wheels which make a difference.
I've had a few teething problems but most were fixed today when it was serviced, however the engine is starting to sound like an old Ducati, but no problems have been reported so far according to the technician at the dealership so will keep an eye/ear on it to see if it gets louder!

Yeah, I saw one out the other day as he was filling up. As he pulled off it sounded like a bag of spanners! Really noisy rattling sound at low revs, then he opened it up and it sounded a lot better....

Don't try one which is still limited. (9k from the factory) I had a bit of buyers remorse for the first few weeks and running it in was a real pain as I didn't have the full power.
I'm getting used to it now and yesterday was the first service which took the limiter off, must say that I'm very happy with it.
My intention is to take it on track to see what it can do, or what I can do is more like it!

Nice machine..don't think I'd trust myself on track with a new toy but if the rider aids are as good as they say..twist and go..

Took one for a test ride today, mega top end.

Tried to turn off the traction but failed as race mode is a little too intrusive.

Picks up the front wheel at 9,000RPM in first, second and third without trying but couldn't keep the front end up as the electronics just wanted to drop it back onto the ground in race mode.

Night and day above last years model except the HP4 carbon which I love.

Also feels like a 250, turn in do quickly.

A touch of the bars drops it into a corner so quickly unlike the blade.

    Love it

Glad you managed to take one out, it really does keep pulling and it tips in so easily like you say. Mine has had a lot of problems as my previous post has said but the dealership is swapping it for another new bike.
That's not a bad advert for it, the one I bought was a lemon but I'm happy to change it for another RR.
Not looking forward to running it in again though....

We ran 3 2015 S1000RR's at the Le Mans 24hr with no faults at all. Ran for 24hrs constantly being ridden by 3 BSB riders on race pace...... An a,zing piece of kit.. Much better than the earlier BM's, they used to shit them selfs regularly (I did one engine & a gearbox)..

That's encouraging to hear. My engine was noisy and was getting quite rattley within a few hundred miles. They say they sound like that but mine was really bad. I'm glad it's being changed as I'd lost faith in it.

No doubt a great bike but I just don't like the look of it however in Tyco colours last night it looked wow can't get past the front looks like what BMW did took all the best sport bikes at the time and implemented the best bits of them all.also my blade I don't go wow it just suited my short T _ Rex arms. Love the 1299 but couldn't get on with it,

Went for another test ride on a 2015 S1000RR this afternoon, this time Steve SPS170373 came along on the blade so that we could compare the performance.

Had a great ride, handling, brakes and performance of the S1000RR was superb HOWEVER the S1000RR did not have any performance advantage over Steves blade. I was shocked as the S1000RR could not pull away from the blade.

    What a huge surprise.

Riding the S1000RR in isolation, it feels like a missile that would eat a blade for breakfast.

If they are that evenly matched, and even at V-max then there's not a chance I'd sell my Blade to get an S1000RR. Quite surprising really to see that 7 years of development have yielded so little increase and I certainly don't live at 180mph so it's not gonna make any difference to me.

Glad you're enjoying the new bike Paul but a little disconcerting that they're already replacing it!
My mate had an HP4 when they first came out and had it returned so many times for issues with the ABS/Traction which they couldn't resolve (it almost spat him off once at 80mph when the orange light chimed in whilst in the middle of a corner) that eventually they stuck him back on a £14k Motorad version of the RR and took the HP4 back with a few grand worth of extras to make up the difference but he'd lost so much faith in the product that after 1015 miles he'd sold the RR for £11500 to a dealer! He wishes he'd kept his HRC Blade AND his HRC CB1000 he'd owned before he jumped ship to BMW! Reckons the Blade was the best bike he'd owned. Previous to the Blade he'd had a 2007 R1 and reckons the Blade was the nicer bike to ride.

the s1000rr might eat the blade speed wise but the blade is a better all round handling machine ive had the bmw now on the zx10

That also surprises me, I'd have thought it would pull away from the blade. As you say, it does feel faster when riding the RR. 13k RPM on the blade was obviously quick but ok, the last few times I've tried on the BM it felt a bit mental. Strange.

I have to disagree with the handling. Was it the 15 model? Mine also has the forged wheels and it handles superbly.
