Always has but it's more pronounced when oil is thin and needs change. If we change oil it damps it out. Bike only done 6 thou but every 1000 we have to change oil as its annoying with vibration. I have had numb hand and feet for as long as I can remember. Any ideas? Definitely oil is helping damp. Also what does the balancer shaft do and would adjustment help? I'm contemplating engine strip followed by crank balancing to try and put my mind at rest but advice needed.
I thought fireblades had auto tensioning and also would just produce a slight rattle and not really vibration enough to shske the frame and bars surely? I am getting hold of s Haynes manual, Is that just a guess or have you seen this before? I've experienced cam chain tensioning on an sv650 and it was more pose and not vibration
Everytime we do an oil change the viscosity seems to dampen the Vibs. It's vibing all the time, under load , no load. As s previous rider concurred, pull clutch in at 70 mph bike is silent and smooth, motor revs engaged and its vibes. It's definitely the engine but it just had to be internal if we do an oil change it helps ask it fit a while but no overly.
Excuse the phone typing The bike is better once oil is new but not for very long and not a massive change but it helps a little. Just changed to fully synth and it sounds nicer but vibration is still there just slightly less. If we used 20/40 semi it would have helped more.
You sure it's not the clutch? My 2010 is a bit vibey at times but never really bothered me as my R1 was worse ...
Clutch was removed by Honda dealers and they said nowt up with it. I took it off myself and replaced the clutch basket roller bearing to be on safe side. It ran better after that but then again we replaced the oil again at the same time..... Go figure. So I believe it's nothing to do with clutch. It used to get smoother when you take up pressure on the lever ???? I'm just thinking does the balancer gear drive through the clutch basket cod if that's the case centralising the basket by putting pressure on the lever could be taking back lash out of the balancer gear and smoothing it out?? What does anyone think?
I checked the balancer shaft backlash and no difference made. As s description I am now thinking and feeling that the engine feels abit lumpy on running. I had the throttle open and held it. The revs bounce about between around 300 either side of the throttle position. So if you take it to 3000, the engine burbles above and below constantly and does sit still. Is this normal? That seems to produce the lumpiness vibration.
Not random but yes I do. The vibration was there even when I didn't have them on. It's another check but highly unlikely.
Yes all torqued up. Just changed plugs and filter and no change at all. When the bike is running with the tank up you can see all the leads vibrating and buzzing. Also checked and dynamically set balancer shaft which was a little better on sound but not on vibration. While the bike is stripped of fairings I'm open to any other checks.
This is what the clutch looks like . Anyone got any opinions or ideas. Is it supposed to float this much? update All bolts torqued and were fine. Filter plugs done no change to vibration. Friend listened to engine and said doesn't like sound of cam chain. I've opted to change the tensioner just in case. Manual one ordered. Still dont like the play in the clutch basket ??
Right it's time to rant. Having taken it to three dealers and explained the symptoms I think I have now sorted the problem. I have just taken out the weak ass cct and replaced with an ape manual. Bearing in mind this blade has vibrated from around 1000 miles and only gets better with thick oil. I believe after placing said ape tensioner on and run it briefly it has almost disappeared. I just ran it for a wee while and will adjust tension again a little. I'm my honest opinion it does seem to be that cct. Oil fed, weak ass spring. I believe it has been flexing under load and or the oil feed has been bad. Cct looks fine acts fine but is imho shite. I will confirm in the next day or so. So gutted I chased this all over the place and no one at s dealer believed me
Vibration is down to minimal now, smoother by far because of the tensioner. I believe that to have been the problem. I also put a K&N filter in it so there's s little roar from the Airbox and maybe a little lean on exhaust so it's different again. The throttle is a bit on and off but I put it down to air filter.
