Just wondering what the general feeling is when the blade has quite a large "clunk" when going from neutral to first, be it first start of the day or sitting waiting at a set of lights, it always clunks and lurches forwards slightly It just make me look even worse than I am, if that's actually possible Suggestions, fixes or just the norm? Thanks Steve
i have this as well.. I sometimes pump the clutch lever a few times before engaging 1st and this seems to help.. especially after she has just started from sitting for a while
Maybe I should have mentioned its been like it since I had it, and it was serviced just before before I picked it up. We had an old CBR600 that used to do this really badly, but I put it down to it having 45,000+ miles on the clock, this blade only has 8,000 on the clock and I have had it since 7,500 miles. Our newer 14 plated CBR600 does not do this, its as smooth as silk everywhere, but we have had that from 900 miles and it now has 4,000 miles.
Mine clunks but doesn`t lurch. I own a 27 year old gsxr and the gearchange is streets ahead of the Blade.
Most Honda's I've owned and I know of have that 1st gear clunk from neutral. I wouldn't worry but if it's lurching a lot you may just need to adjust your clutch cable.
They all clunk, Blade gearbox's are a bit gash tbh. Tiz one of the reasons I sold mine along with the ABS issues
Mate, most Hondas are like Singer sewing machines, at least the Blade has a few concessions to being a bit like a Superbike, with its clattery engine, and clunky box. Totally normal mate, everyone I have had has done it.
By clattery engine, is that the pinging sound and the clatter that happens if you are going too slow in a gear and try to open it up? I was wondering if that was normal too?
Yep that's normal as well, but no, in general the blade engine is not like the majority of Honda engines, and that includes my lawnmower , they are all to sanitised IMO, if you have ever owned a Kwak, you will know where I am coming from
I used to have an old GPX750z and an old ZZR600 many moons ago, like about 15 years and to be fair, I have only had Honda's since and one Yam R6. I can't remember how they ran, I know the Kwak's went well for old sports tourer's in their day, but that's about it, not ridden any modern ones
