I don't have the money just now for fancy rearsets(maybe come Xmas)so have looked at setting race shift pattern using OEM. It doesn't look like the shift rod will fit with the sprocket cover in place,I guess it needs to come off. So I rotate shift rod top joint 180 degrees on selector shaft,adjust shift rod length so gear lever sits at correct height and set QS to extension instead of compression. Is it really that simple or have I missed something blindingly obvious?
Think I'll just remove it for now as I don't want to have to buy another one at a later date. Looking at the lightech rearsets and the sprocket cover should fit fine in race shift,just can't afford them at the moment
As long as you secure the breather pipes and the side stand switch cable so they don't get caught in the chain,I don't see why not. Oh,and don't wear boots with long laces
My local Honda shop ( parts ) when I asked said it could not be done without rearsets and a sales rep just said to take off the cover but have to keep chain lubed. Have you got any pics
I've hit a major stumbling block which looks like I'm not gonna get race shift until I can afford rearsets While my theory seems to be ok,I have the ABS model and there is a part of the system mounted near the selector shaft which looks like it will prevent the shift rod being fitted on the other side.
So I cut the sprocket cover to convert to go shift. So far I am enjoying shifting this way so I will end up getting a new set of rearsets and a new carbon fiber sprocket cover at the same time. Due to the living location I'm going to hold off on getting a exhaust and do other parts first. What is a good set of rearsets that you know of if you can help.
