Bennets did not give me a renewal quote this year - even though i have a clean licence and 5 years NCD. Any idea's why? Going though a comparison site, it says bennets will insure me..?
Ring them and ask them, I would, just to find out why, very odd I always use MCN Compare, found it the cheapest by far for me, but very little no claims
That's odd, I have only 1 year no claims and only pay a little over £300 fully comp I know its more round our way as there are so many non desirables about
Bennetts are terrible, probably saved you problems in the future, by questioning them now. They are ridiculous on many levels..... I rung up to find out how much my insurance would increase if I popped a new pipe on..... they then cancelled my policy without me knowing! They take the piss and over quote at renewal, then you use there website and its cheaper then they do it for that price. Finally it took me 3 months to get them to send me a letter with proof of no claims, and the first email to keep the new insurer happy, had the wrong date on it! Use Carole Nash or somewhere else, that is not Bennetts.
Just reading a different thread http://www.1000rr.co.uk/threads/crashed-should-i-claim-or-not.26089/ re bennetts
Dr D...have to say my experience with Bennetts is so far removed from your experience.....at renewal this year they came in straight away with a lesser figure than in 2014....I rang up to pay and queried if my excess could be reduced (£850) they immediately said as I had been with then for 1 year they could drop it to £ 350 for the princely additional sum of approx £ 2.50.....total renewal for the Repsol £ 117 +
Did you double check what they quoted against, what their website quoted? Each to their own, but I have repeatedly had bad service with them, the exhaust incident was in 2010, I was left riding with no insurance, they did admit their guilt after listening to phone recordings but still because it was cancelled had to reinstate a new policy at my expense, and then later gave them the benefit of doubt and thought because they were cheaper I would go with them again in 2013 when they bit me again but I suppose twice bitten ( opposed to once ) now shy.
Lilywhites, also they are bound to come in with a lesser quote in 2015 than 2014 because you NCB has increased. My point is really they are crooks if you look into it further and double check their website quote, I bet you would have saved even more if you checked their website, I am sure this insurance company behaviour has been on bbc watchdog recently. I sound like a serial complainer, but I assure you I am not, I work in an industry where you have to be upfront, gain consent, and no mistakes are tolerated and in general life if people get away with ignorance or stupidity then it does not stand, as it does not stand in my profession and the way I am judged, so I judge others by the same stick.
I've had max NCD for more years than I care to remember matey so it an't that for sure ........I know what you mean mind you......my gripe is and has been with Carole Nash and MCE who I had been with in previous years both equally as bad as each in my experience....as you say it really is a personal thing and being an insurance broker myself if I looked after my clients like any bike insurer does then I's soon be down the job centre. All a shower tbh but at present Bennetts is OK for me
Slightly off topic but still relating to Bennetts..I will have 1 years NCB in September, with Bennetts. They won't allow me to swap to a blade before then as the underwriter won't cover it. So new policy with them (or someone else) in Sept. I need to sell my FZ1 before getting the blade, so best to do this before end of policy as will probably sell privately. But if I do sell and then cancel policy before the end will I lose my 1 yrs NCB ??
Yes you will. Many years ago..I swapped insurance over to a moped at the end when I sold my bike..;-)
Balls. Best to keep it insured then..as I'm guessing any potential test-riders won't be covered unless there is a policy (by the registered owner) in force ?
Don't tell them you have sold it as they will automatically cancel your policy and you will loose your ncb. If you sell it and get a blade, insure it monthly then when the fz1 policy end, cancel it and reinsure with your ncb.
Didn't Bennets recently get bought by the people who own Saga/RIAAS? Could be they only want the over 50s on their books.
Bennets quoted me £79 to change my bike from a Speed triple to a BMW S1000R Sport - did the deal on the bike a week later then rang again - would you believe they had to cancel my policy and start another as the underwriter had changed their policy! It cost me about £200 more and a half year loss of no claims - I thought MCE were robbing bas*rds but bennets are catching up!
I would worry about this http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle...r-banned-new-owner-has-fatal-crash/25470.html
Anyone know if I could suspend my policy with them for a month say before it ends, and still earn my NCB ?
Bennetts are crooks, think they roll the dice when people phone. When I got my blade they quoted me £2500 Went to H&R and got it for £200 On the subject of NCB,it's called Years No Claims and unless you earn a full year you ain't getting it,i lost a years no claims for the sake of less then a month, sold my previous bike and hadn't taken delivery of the blade yet. And I certainly wasn't taking the chance of letting the insurance run for the full year when I didn't own it any more.
