What a friendly place this is. Really impressed with everyone's attitude and welcomes. Can anyone help me with ideas of how to keep the black painted part of my standard exhaust looking as mint as the rest of the bike please? When hot it just turns grey and looks awful!
Slick cheers but I really want to try keep this bike standard. I think the later blades came with a cover on that part of the exhaust?
I've tried most things BBQ paint, HT paint and they all come off sooner than later. I guess it is all in the prep, you really need to strip down to bare metal. I have junked my 2009 exhaust but normally run a yoshi, but do have a 2012 exhaust and put it on when required.
I have an 09 and bought a new unused 10/11 exhaust for £50. Took mine off, cleaned it all up with a wire cup on a grinder and stuck some PJ1 black engine paint on it and sold it for £50. Win win! Looks far better with the plate on the side anyway. (Saying that I have just removed it and fitted a Yoshi R-77). Just do it. You can always keep the original for when its needed.
