Got my letter yesterday, and they are quoting 1.6 hours for the swap, PLUS 10 working days to send the faulty unit back to Ohlins for repair. Surely this is a joke? Can they not send out replacement units and exchange them while the bike is there? I'm certainly not happy with the bike being off road for a fortnight, especially as I'm supposed to be going on holiday on the thing in 3 weeks, cutting it too fine for my liking. But then I don't fancy the alternative of waiting until I get back from playing on the Aline passes.
Are all dealers treating this the same way, or are there some with their heads screwed on that will have straight replacement units in stock?

Can't see any dealer stocking the part Honda dealers aren't authorized to work on the ohlins suspension even to replace a fork seal. I was told it would be a 5 day turnaround

I'm not asking for them to carry out the repair to the shock, but I would have thought it entirely feasible that they could have been supplied a working replacement to fit, with the original being sent back for repair and then coming back into the supply chain. It's not rocket science. I'd even settle for them fitting a standard non-Ohlins shock whilst the original was sent away. At least that would mean that the bike would stay on the road.
Had a few choice words for Honda's (lack of) customer service department today, and was basically told to get stuffed, and if I didn't like it I should take it to trading standards. I must say I'm tempted to see what they have to say on the matter. I just think that expecting anyone to 'surrender' their bike for up to 2 weeks, in the middle of the best weather of the year so far, is taking the piss.

Funny thing is Sticky I said exactly the same thing to my dealer about replacement to use coz end of month I've a track weekend at RAF Valley and 14th July Donnington track day. Now what if my shock needs repairing and it isn't back, EXACTLY :-(

I can't help but think what they would do if it was your car. Would they still leave you without one for 2 weeks, bearing in mind that it is their recall. What if your bike was your main form of transport?

I was told they had checked batch numbers and mine didn't need a recall luckily or so they have said still waiting for it in writing! On the other hand my wife's subaru needs a recall for the passenger air bag which is on back order and they can't say when they will have more! In the mean time they've told us nobody is to sit in the passenger seat!

I'm heading off on my annual jaunt to Switzerland on the 2nd. (On the bike)
The dealer assures me (verbally) that it will be sorted in time. When I asked 'but what if it isn't?' I just got a 'well, it will be'
They must live in a world where nothing ever gets lost in transit!

Surely all of us who are in this position are, at best, unhappy about the situation. But Honda simply refuse to entertain the notion that it is unacceptable.

As I see it, someone at Ohlins is at fault for not doing their job correctly, and overtightening a nut, or whatever.
So is it expecting too much for them to have all the inconvenience of sorting this out, rather than those of us daft enough to spend what is, let's face it, a BIG wadge of money on something that turns out, through no fault of our own, to be unfit for purpose?
I'm self employed, and if I drop a bollock on a job I would never expect a customer to be inconvenienced in order to sort it.

Booked in for 29th June after RAF Valley track weekend, so they've got until 13th July to get it done and mine is one of the shocks which needs checking.
Read through bulletin at Dealership and it has to go back to Germany for check but included in the blub is a statement says the MAXIMUM the bike will be off the road is 10 days, we'll see.
