As I didnt want to risk my blade on the track I got hold of a cbr600rr that is a cat c write off. I've re built it, removed all the lights and put some track fairings on it.

It now has an mot but with a day time restriction. I'm struggling to find anyone to insure it. I've tried all the usual suspects such as Bennetts and Carole Nash with no joy. I'd really like to be able to ride it on the road every so often so I can check all is well after I've completed maintenance etc.

Has anyone ever managed to get insurance on a track bike? I'm 40, no claims or endorsements and full ncb in the blade.

Are you asking them to insure a track bike? If not it's just another bike and I can't remember ever being asked what type of MOT I have.

Should just insure it like a normal bike but obviously it won't be insured while on tracks.
Unless you're saying they won't insure you due to the modifications you have made?

As soon as I started telling them it had no lights they all walked away.

tbh theres not much chance of getting a bike insured on the road that has no lights, indicators etc without paying a high premium.

you could risk just insuring it and not declaring the mods, but you wouldn't be insured if anything happened,i doubt they would even cover any 3rd party, which could then put you in a world of shit.

As inflexible as that sounds and as ridiculous as it is in the real world, when you read what you've written above you can sort of see why they take tgat stance. Surely there must be some "understanding" insurers out there?
