Nice one Robin, as said Balls of Steel to Road Race there imho! Hope U can still 'lower' ya self to still do a few TD's with us mere Mortals at Oulton, don't think I've seen U since 2014!
Cheers guys, it has been an amazing experience. Not too sure about this balls of steel, as for some reason I found it easier going round there than Oulton. I do need to get back to Oulton though Sinewave, as it has been way too long since I was last there!
I was stood at ballakieghan in the rain for practice and you were good and smooth. On race day I was stood atop of a stone gate pillar at the exit of church bends frantically shaking my fist at you willing you on. I thought you went really well, very smooth and safe and not that slow either as your results proved. Serious respect fella !!!! Just remember you did bloody well to qualify that well in the wet against some serious certified looney tunes and in the dry they were just literraly bouncing off the kerbs deliberately the amount of times I jumped back from the road edge. A proper dirty little road race with a fantastic atmosphere one of the best I've ever been to. Top Stuff.
Cheers restone, how the top lads go that much faster is beyond me! But I guess that we all have to start somewhere on the roads, so hopefully next year will be better again. I know where I can make time up next year and just need to get a bit more set up in the bike for some corners, but apart from that I think it was all good. Sorry I didn't see you, but for some reason my mind was elsewhere! I did get distracted by the steam train at one point and thought it looked all very nice, but it was probably more important to miss the wall that was coming up fast! As you say, it was a proper road race with a fantastic atmosphere for both riders and spectators and I would urge anybody who hasn't been to watch to go and do so.
In the UK you only have Oliver's Mount at Scarborough.Not done it yet, but it is tight, twisty and fast. Not somewhere I would like to do in the wet. You then obviously have the Irish roads with loads going on there. I am hoping to do more of these next year and certainly want to do Cookstown. The Isle of Man has the TT, Manx GP and various things around the Billown circuit such as the Southern 100. I personally loved the Southern, as it was amazing racing and a week holiday too. All I can say is that I think that short circuit racing now is going to seem very different!
do you think the new government rule on public roads being able to be used for motor sport subject to being past for each event will get us some new events in the future ??
It is hard to say, but I would hope so. It would be a shame if things didn't take off as there are so many areas races could be held at. I guess it is trying to convince and educate people that it is a good thing. Let's keep fingers crossed it works, as it will reduce my ferry fares to Ireland!!
