6 weeks ago you may recall I was heading off on holiday on our cruise.

Well, we went. Half way through I was taken ill but had to endure to rest of the trip not able to walk or eat or do anything for myself. Got home, managed somehow to drive home but within an hour I was in Hospital.

Turns out I have suffered heart failure,(which is different to a heart attack) I have had 16kg of fluid removed from my lungs and feet so far and for the first 2 weeks in Hosital I was totally unaware of my surroundings.

I was unable to do anything, I can never recall being so zapped of strength or unable to walk 2 yards, I was unable to eat I was totally incapacitated.

I still have a way to go, but I was discharged yesterday after 4 weeks, appetite restored, still get out of breath but this will improve and I can do a lot more than I could even a week ago, and then once I can lie on my back after l the fluid has gone I can have the CT scan and tey can decide what type of pacemaker I have

My grateful thanks to everyone at the Royal Berks Hospital, CCU they have been outstanding

So just thought you may appreciate an update as to why I have not been around,

The Nurses in the Cardiac Care Unit at the RBH are a different breed even compared to other departments and they have nothing but my respect and admiration and boy, they really do put the hours in. It is amazing how many people pass though the unit with heart problems.

Wish it had been, at least I would have had an excuse :) Unfortunately I cannot blame the food. As an exmple, 3rd night in it was eat as much fresh lobster, crab and prawn as you want. I love my shellfish, I managed 4 prawns.:( But by that time the fluid on my lungs was building quite rapidly.

Since I got home from Hospital a week ago, I have lost a further 4kg in weight, that is 20kg in fluid I have lost since the 4th of August.
