Just called my local honda dealer at tamworth, about the problem I'm havin with my ABS brakes where the front lever when pulled comes back to the throttle! They said the fluids need changing..... £300 they quoted me with 5 hrs to do the job! Is this right or av i been fed a load of BS?
Long running thread here about the problem with very little support from Honda: http://1000rr.co.uk/threads/important-notice-please-read-if-you-own-an-abs-2009-onwards-model.11881/ To add insult to injury it's also 5 hrs labour to bleed ABS.
Bek, If you don't mind working on m\bikes or twisting spanners and have a few hours spare, your better off doing it yourself mate, like I and others have done. A few dealer have got the bleed wrong themselves and people have paid for the pleasure!!!!! Here's how to do it in easy to follow steps by Swiss T; Dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3ytel9ml9dcp94p/C-ABS Bleed Notes V8.pdf?dl=0
Cheers Barry107 Yeh I do like tinkering with my bike and the thought of payin £300 to bleed the brakes I think I'm gonna have to..I've fitted brake lines b4 and changed fluids so I know a little.. But Yeh I'll have a look at the link uve posted and go from the bud Nice1 mate
No prob's mate, bled mine and had no problems for 2 years since then. They have just started to play up again so it's bleed time again, but this time i've got some Hel lines to fit as well.
I've just looked at the link now it looks a bit toooooo complicated for me lol But I'll give it a crack anyways also Yeh good idea gettin some braided lines
I was lucky as I got a set that was fitted to a bike and then removed with the complete abs system as the bike was converted to a track bike.
Grantham Honda quoted me £360 I'm a bit frustrated that honda come up with a problematic ABS system and then charge an unacceptable amout to bleed or repair it.
Just spoke to a friend of mine who has a 600 hornet ABS model...he changed his lines and bled them himself the normal way n he said his brakes are fine?
Yeah, no other bikes has the honda c-abs system fitted except the cbr1000rr & car600rr! Pretty much every other abs equipped model from all manufacturers fit Bosch abs systems to the bikes but honda developed a supposedly revolutionary prototype system for the blade and it's baby brother which imho is a complete failure that the customer is the one that's covering the cost of this failure. At the time the revolutionary bit of the system was to eliminate pulsing at the levers similar to that felt in cars when the abs system has been activated but since then Bosch has improved its system as you would expect and eliminated the pulsing and added other features such as gyroscopic input which allows the bike to identify when the bikes at lean and by how much so it can regulate the brake pressure so the abs still works at lean and helps limit the front washing out due to too much brake being applied!
