So I have a van which has 1 years ncb that im still driving and insuring.

I insured my new car a few months ago and couldnt transfer ncb as it was being used on the van policy.

Someone hit my car and so Ive had to claim ofcourse voiding my chance of a ncb on the car.

Question is- do I also lose my ncb on the van as it is a seperate policy?

Seems unfair you cant use it for 2 cars but when you claim on one policy both take the hit?

    Any help would be great

No you do not lose it on the van, but when you declare any changes to your record they will set the premium accordingly. (legal speak for bending you over)

They are an insurance company they make their money from unfair practices!

They are just as bad as the banks they get laws altered and made up to suit themselves for their own gain!

All your insurance policy's will take a hit come renewal time tho dude, you will have to declare a non fault accident during renewal of any vehicle policy you renew or quote which they in turn use as an excuse to hike your premium.

Oh an get this bit which I think is really good (almost as good as getting a hot poker in the eye!) your premium will go up more than the driver who actually hit you as the insurance co now think the odds are higher you will now hit someone else and the other driver will be more cautious in future!

It's all bullsh#t ways to extract as much money out of you as they can.

It should be the person that's getting the policy not the vehicles but hey that would reduce the amount of policy's they would be able to sell as most households have multiple vehicles and often only one or two actual drivers in that household!

Have you got the other persons details or did they do a runner? I got hit on the bike and recovered all losses from the other party and it did not affect or stop me building NCB.

'They' have their Cake and eat it unfortunately!

'They' won't let you use earned NCB on a new Policy, however if any Policy claims then all are 'Leathered' end of!

Should have had Admiral Multi Car insurance, allows NCB to be shared across multiple vehicles.

you'll only lose the NCB on the car policy, but the no fault claim will affect both- Bollox, but how it is.

To my knowledge Admiral won't insure a van and car on a multi car policy, the van isn't a car and vice versa- well they wouldn't when I tried last year anyhow.

I think it's time somebody complained to the ombudsman about this as technically it should be the third- party that claims off THEIR insurance to cover YOUR repairs. This only came about after they introduced knock for knock years ago.
