Anyone heading there? There'll be me with my 2015 Blade and my mate on an 09 Blade, both Repsol. And my mate on an R1M. If you see me, feel free to come and have a chat
Here's the only pic I have for you at the moment... One I'm not proud of! A first lap, low speed low side at the Melbourne Loop. Not good on a week old bike is it really But, it's all cosmetic, and replacement parts have been ordered. Engine case protectors and crash bungs also being researched! I'm waiting for the track photographer to put his pictures up and maybe buy one or two providing I don't look like a complete numpty!
First thing to fit to any new Bike before it turns a wheel is GB Racing Engine Covers, Crash Bungs and Evotec Fork Bobbins and a Rad Guard.
Ouch! Sorry to hear that. Managed to squeeze in time to fit my R&Gs on my first weekend, which of course meant that they have been unnecessary (as yet), but could so easily have happened to me last week on a similarly new bike. Don't beat yourself up too much about it.
I was fully aware that something like this COULD happen to me. You just never think it actually will... until it does. As I say, a lesson hard learned. But one I certainly won't forget. Kestrel Honda in Coventry have looked after me though in terms of parts so I can make it look like a week old bike again instead of a beat up banger racer!
Sorry to hear of your off mate. Especially in a week old bike. If your looking for some engine case protectors I have a set of R&G case protectors that I have just taken off my new track bike.
Seen crash bungs do more damage tbh... But then for a low side like this would of saved some damage no doubt.... Gutted for you mate, really is a kick in the nuts.... But on the plus side it's the place you want to crash at donny, trust me i have.... Also crashed at Goddards and craners and they are not recommended lol Good luck getting the bike sorted. Did you manage to get the rest of the day on track though?
If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any at all That would be excellent Colin, drop me a PM with how much you'd like for whatever you have going. Definitely wanting to do as much as I can to protect the bike because this certainly won't be my last trackday. If you could share pictures also, that would be excellent. Are the crash bungs the drill-through-fairings ones or the non-drill ones? I was looking at buying non-drill ones to protect the fairings entirely because the bike is on PCP so there is a chance the dealer will be having it back in 3 years time and I didn't want to have to replace fairings (again) because I'd drilled the originals. But anything you can offer will be enermously appreciated! Funny you should say that. At the time, falling off, I wasn't thrilled. But in hindsight, there are a lot of places on the track that would have been less enjoyable to fall off. Falling off at Craner's must have been interesting. That's a very fast section to go down! But the run down into Goddard's is fast as well, deceptive though because the corner seems to come in on you very fast. Not once did I apex that corner accurately all day! Always felt like I was going to miss it! I did do all my other sessions after that and still had an awesome day. Still managed to push my Bridgestone S20R's pretty hard.
They won't care at all - it's such a standard modification. Just leave them in when you bring it back. What was the damage for a replacement fairing (if you don't mind me asking)?
Well here's a few pics of the good bits of the day. Thanks to @ColinBR I now have crash protection on the way. Just have to wait about 6 months until the weather picks up enough to do trackdays again
