I've been riding for nearly 10 years and had God knows how many tyre changes.

    Well..this morning it happened. Nice
Shiny new tyres 'take it easy for the first 100 miles...blah blah..." Short right hand corner turn off the lights. Spun the back out and low sided.

Was fully kitted up as usual so no damage to me. The bike however....

I'm thinking i might just buy a cheap Chinese fairing set for a bit of a refresh. And slowly gather oem parts as they become available second hand.

Need to get a RHS mirror as a priority to make her 'road worthy' again.

I'm sure you all know it (I know I did) but just be double double careful on those new tyres.

Any recommendation for a set of Chinese fairings? I'm thinking...

    What tyres were they?

Sorry to hear about the spill, and the Chinese fairing idea sounds like a good one.

    Best of luck.

Had road pilot 4's on for about year and half but found them slow to turn.

    Went back to sportsmart2's.

    Slow to turn?

I think that is maybe the first negative thing I've ever heard about the RP4 tyres.

Just how I felt about them when compared to my previous sportsmarts experience.

    I mean...I'm glad I tried them.

Done exactly the same myself a few years back.

Just made me replace what was needed on the bike and upgrade where I could.

Basically gave me the excuse to get the bike to where I wanted.

Ouch sorry about the bike but at least your ok .. How fast would you say you were going to do that? Would you put crash bungs on in future? I don't use them but thinking might and looks exactly where road had contact with your bike! At least it's coming up to winter and can be a project!

    About 5-10mph.

Yeah R&G's would have saved the day. I had them on my last 08 blade, but didn't get around to fitting them on this one.

Sigh...suppose once I get it all sorted I'll install them again.

I did the same last Saturday at Rockinham unfortunately.

I have also ordered a right hand fairing panel from China. The most expensive item was the trashed akrapovic can. I dressed the engine cases and sprayed them with halfords high heat metallic black which was almost a perfect match for my 2011 cases. Rear and front brake levers we're got from eBay. I finally covered the repaired casing with a GBRacing protector.

    Good work.

Just to add to my 'amazing' weekend, this happened this morning....

Ouch mate. The good thing is that you are ok, the other one is the repair bill for the bike. Fix it during the winter with all the necessary protection and you'll be fine.
    Hope everything goes well

Sorry to read this. New tyres make me nervous as heck, I worry that my lack of confidence on new tyres could make matters worse too = double whammy:confused:

Sorry to hear that mate :( glad you ok at least.

New tyres on track are great, stick em on warmers, two sighting laps and then gun it :)
Had two metzeler M7rr fitted for off season last wekend, took it steady for a few road miles and then gunned it, they felt great :)

how did you Break the phone?

I don't know how much the 'can' is but from here it looks an easy fix for a decent sheet metal worker.
    Mike.
