How do all, newbie to forum, current rides are 2006 zx10r, Aprillia Dorsoduro and Blackbird. I think I am just about to buy a brand new Fireblade SP so thought I would have a look on the forum to see what's happening in Fireblade land. Been offered a cracking deal on Repsol SP with the Dorsoduro going for exchange. Keeping ZX10R to turn into track bike or possible ride in EMRA Roadstocks championship. My non- road bike is a 1981 Suzuki GSX750 which I have raced in the Earlystocks championship in the past which is affiliated to the EMRA championships. No major questions to ask ref the SP other than are they as good as I think it's going to be? Other option is 'standard' Fireblade but heart is set on SP. Anyway, hello to all and I'll let you know when purchase is done.
Welcome fella, I had the same quandary when I bought mine, for me the ohlins and front calipers weren't worth the extra premium.
Welcome to the forum matey, as said before if you think the added options are a bargain....go for it. Or Spend that extra dosh on customising a 'standard' blade. also if you want an easy life imo dodge the abs model!
Hi all, the SP in question will be an ABS model, is that a bad thing? Heard tales of ABS being poor on track (cutting in too soon), I do plan to track day the SP, is it intrusive on the road? also I never use my back brake (Blackbird has delink kit on), how intrusive is back brake operation on linked ABS?
Welcome on board, not too sure about the abs thing it as quite different views on here I think it's something you need to try for yourself then decide????
Im not going to go to town on the ABS issue as others are right its a changeable beastie with lovers and haters. It's a great system when its on form but I personally wouldn't buy another as if we ignore my bad experiences with it, its a real faff to service and maintain the braking system on the ABS model, having had the non ABS version for 18 months now I massively prefer it!
