finally got the missus to hop onboard for shirt spin around Ballagarey recently. Thinking she would not like it...blow me over with a feather she loved it! Wanted more speed! Made me think about getting one of those pillion strap things to hook around me, anyone used one? Any good? Any other options?
They have webbing between the waist band and the handles which don't allow you to brace, or at least the one I had here doesn't. My lad prefers to use the seat strap or grab rail.
I found the Oxford ones looked a bit more substantial and had a double fixing strap. I use them all the time with my lad, stops you feeling like your coming off the back but as others are said you can't brace yourself as good as you can with the Hand grips already there if you can reach them. http://www.halfords.com/motoring/mo...ories/oxford-rider-grips-pillion-grab-handles
I've got one of these, much better than the belt thing as they can stop themselves jerking backwards and forwards when braking and accelerating much safer and pillion agree too cost about £120

I had grab rails fitted on most of my previous bikes but she found them awkward to hold onto so never did. Even after bouncing her into the back of a Mercedes she wouldn't use it. Reckon if I wasn't trying to hold both our body weights on my wrists and brake at the same time, I may have been able to brake harder and stop in time! Reckon that tank mount handle would be great if she finds it comfortable, otherwise it just makes the blade look cack! As Nick says, best leave them at home for their own safety of course!
Buy her a direct access course for her birthday & then she can have her own bike One more woman on 2 wheels happy days
Yes, and if you have any more good ideas, keep them to yourself !!! I'm not sexiest !!! Honest !!! She has her own machine, washing machine in her Ultility room. !!
Did try a belt/harness affair a few years back, when riding in the states. Firstly, odd looks from a few people when not on the bike, looked like you'd been visiting the local adult shop for the latest in bondage gear. Secondly, had the side effect of producing an odd whining sound in the ears, especially when being a bit too enthusiastic with the throttle. ( Ear plugs proved no defense in this case ). Did it work ? Not really, she much preferred having a grab rail or handle of some type, on the odd occasions I would agree to put up with the noise.
Yep, did the belt n handles thing with my 11 yr old daughter, when you ride it yourself it's hard to judge what Is slow or mild acceleration. But to them they think you trying to dump them. Bought Venture luggage sets and the small rack with hande. Great to hold on with, stops her bum from sliding off the seat. Now with her using both hands in proper Postion you can actually ride normally. Also little bag on it for spare gloves n scarfs I she gets cold if come back late.
