First wipe out on new tyres + fixes

    Regarding the fairing and the fact you're going to run it with damage until its replaced, Id get a good sharp craft knife and cut the scuffed decal and make a piece from the black duct tape to 'fake' it. :)

    Ha ha! I did consider it. No doubt I'll need to redo the tape again. Maybe I'll add some artistic flair on the next go!

    ....but you could offset the cost by selling the R&G's on here or the bay of E.

    I like the HPS for a number of reasons

    1 you dont need to drill the fairings
    2 less risk of fecking up the engine mount threads in an off (or especially if you remove the fairing frequently)
    3 the HPS bungs are higher so I think they would more likely to protect the tank cover
    4 you dont need to drill the fairings

    my only reservation would be because they are higher they may increase the risk of a victory roll but if you crashed at that speed you would be in a world of pain anyway!

    ...oh, and you don't need to drill the fairings :)

    Extremefairings.Co.UK I was looking for a set for my blade 2014 however my plastics are been resprayed as none broke. But this website has all models delivery is approx 2-3weeks and there pretty cheap compared to others I've seen. I did same thing low sided hit the nice fresh edges of the tyre even tho I'd already smashed a few hundred mile on it it just tucked from under me :( 1200 later she's back brand again thank fuck lol.     I've not fitted them to the Blade yet but will probably get them. My BIL fitted them to his R6 and that entailed removing the engine bolts I think then refitting once complete. I assume this will be the same. There is a separate bar across the engine to the other side to spread the load. Much better than the R&G's where the bolts which hold the mushrooms to the fairing just bend and damage the plastics anyway as they're fitted into holes in the plastics!

    image.jpeg I also broke the LHS mirror attachment , ie the cheap steel bit which conects to the fairing. Fortunately , managed to obtain the relevant part and mix and match.

    looks like you are getting over the initial shock which is a good thing although your wallet may not think so!
    Have you not made an insurance claim? For the amount involved it may be worth it.
    Running in a tyre is a formality these days but you still run in the sides gradually (and with caution) specially in colder weather.

    Shit the bed mate it looks like you bike came off nearly as bad as mine when I binned it at like 100mph through a fence.

    Crash protectors are a serious must. I always fit the engine protectors as well you have been lucky with the damage to the engine casing for it not to crack or grind through there.

    Good luck putting it all back together tho. If it was my bike I would concentrate on basicaly getting it back on the road if your not going through the insurance just run it with tape holding it together then you wont be bothered about dropping it or even binning it again then slowly get all the new fairings sorted and put them on as you go along or when you come to sell the bike

    Ahh... I would... I had an off with R&G's a few years back. The only damage was 1/2 an R&G and a wee scuff on a panel that would be wet&dry'ed out and painted.

    Decided to fit the R&Gs after all, had an incident once (the day after leg day!) when my legs were so sore I couldn't get them off the pegs when stopping at some lights, so comically the bike just fell to one side, slightly embarrassing but the bungs protected the bike from any damage.

    I've made a decision finally after months of deliberation.

    Been umm'ing and arrr'ing since I smashed it up as to what I want to do. Been considering changing it entirely to an s1000rr or maybe a Superduke for a complete change. Thing is I can't really justify spending the money on a bike I mainly use to commute to work. So I'm just gonna splash a bit of cash to get the bike back to being nice. Made a list probably gonna need to spend about £700 on various bits and bobs. So keeping a keen eye out for deals on parts. Might also throw in a few small upgrades here and there.

    Think you should have stayed in bed buddy...sorry to hear about your bike...id be gutted as I imagine you are feeling. On the upside your ok and that's the important thing.
