My brother has just bought a new 959 and the bulky twin silencers are ugly. After searching everywhere the only options at the moment is to try and source a 1299 full system then buy the lower fairing panels. An expensive business and a load of hassle. He decided to go for an Austin Racing GP2R can which is different to the alloy end cap GP1R in having a traditional angled exit. Looks very similar to the Rsv4 etc versions. Looks quite nice and is very light,
Hi Arthur, your not around as much as you used to be, lots of work ? Yes a Panigale R is a dream bike, your 848 and your Blade are both fantastic, I would take either of them as well.
Always so busy mate running a big yard as well as the workshop IF I get time, I am in talks with a good friend re my workshop but unable to say much about it, I have worked in the background of other workshops for many years, I still do a few jobs for some of them, but its more of a trade deal with me and them, they deal with the customer, its how I used to work hence twitter has slowed down, just means they get the credit I keep telling myself I don't need another bike, and Ducati wise I still feel my 848 is amazing! BUT the "R" is something to dream about, you know how it is mate, maybe once in a lifetime
I prefer the look of the exhaust on the previous model but understand Ducati's hands have been tied by the euro emissions rubbish! The Austin Racing is a massive improvement over the stock look.
I'm not familiar with the exhaust system on a panni, is the CAT still in place? If so, I guess it's quite quiet?
Pal has one of the highest mileage 899 bikes (he did Essex to Oban and back the other weekend in the snow for example) and his biggest problem has been people asking him about it everytime he stops. Like many his zorst is lovely but that looks equally good - sod the emissions , its not a diesel VW with a cheat device is it!
I still prefer the under bike exhaust like the 899 etc but with the new Eu emissions crap all bikes are going to have massive ugly exhausts from next year so we are all going to have to look for alternatives. The AR slip on is the only one out at the moment apart from the twin Akra's. It is slightly louder than standard but the main silencer box is still under the bike, most brands seem to be doing this now.
I was recently getting my 63 plate RR serviced and while I waited was offered a spin on the 959. Got to say it's a peach. Love the can on this one.
