Out with the old, in with the new(er).

It's been a long time coming and I'm seriously chuffed. What a machine!

I'll probably be back soon with loads of dumb questions.

It's an 04, the first cbr1000rr. My old blade was a 929 from 2000. Great bike but pretty tatty. What's your ride?

The first thing I'd like to change on this bike, apart from the tyres, are the indicators. They're immense! They look like they're off a Goldwing.

Can anyone with an 04//05 recommend a type that fits well please?

Welcome :) Fellow 04 owner here. I just had a look on ebay, all very cheep so if you dont like the ones you buy its not the ned of the world. If buying small LED's though you will need a resistor upgrade. This can be done two ways 1. solder small resistors into the indicator wire. 2. replace the indicator relay, located in the nose cone. This I found was the easier of the two options. Just unclip OEM relay and clip in the upgraded one.

    Cheers Dan,

Thanks for the reply Dan. Nice bike you've got, I love that colour scheme. Looks like you've put flush blinkers on the front, right? Can't really see the back ones though.

I'll figure it out anyway. Thanks again.

Hi, I too went from a 929 to an 05 1000rr, sweet machines. Yours looks tidy. I had small indicators on mine, and changed them back to standard!!! I like them. Any thoughts on tyres? I had Dunlops on when I got mine, they were off in days. Bridgestone Bt0-16 next wore really quick, have Metezler M5 interacts on at the mo, really nice tyre, not the latest offering but more than enough for fast road riding, reasonable price too from Tyreleader. As for dumb questions just ask mate, this forum is a font of knowledge. BTW Welcome to the forum.

Cheers Sulaco. Maybe I'll get used to the giant blinkers, at least car drivers should be able to see them.

Tyres. I use Pilot Road 4s. More of a touring than racing tyre, but I've ended up putting them on every bike I've had, even sports bikes. I'm not planning on going to the track, I'm not a knee-down rider in general. So for a lightweight, PR4s are great on the road in all weather. They're not cheap but they last ages.

This bikes got Battlax 016 tyres that are nearly shot and back one is squared-off pretty bad. Can't wait to change them but I'll have to as I'm brassic!
