HI all I've been riding for about 5 years or so now. I was a latecomer to the motorbike party. my first bike was brought about by moving to a house with no garage, meaning my old classic Mini had to be sold, as there was nowhere to keep it out of the elements, and not enough driveway space for mine and the wife's car - much to my dismay. So I decided to put the money from the sale towards doing my CBT and buying a bike and correct gear. The rest, as they say, is history. I started my bike career with a Suzuki Marauder Then got a 600 bandit after a years riding round and the taking / passing my full test. Followed by a Fazer 1000 Followed by BMW K1200R Followed by a Kawasaki Z1000 which I did a deal with on an 08 plate CBR1000RR. I've not picked it up yet, hoping to do so next weekend, or may be the weekend after. My other and longer standing passion is BMW's. I've had nothing but since I was about 19 (aside from a short, and self destructive stint with a Mazda RX8!), and have been running an owners club and forum for ....blimey....ages....at least 18 years. I won't list them all out here, as it's probably not of much interest, but I'm currently driving a 15 plate 435 sport that I love dearly, and was the first "brand new" and specc'd to my liking car purchase I've ever made, and the missus has an 07 plate X5, which puts a nice big tick in the practicality box, whilst also being quite a nice place to be. I'm also into car detailing, which do as hobby/sideline. Anyway, there's bit about me. Look forward to getting to know some people on here.
Hi Russ, fantastic intro. Welcome to the forum and enjoy your new bike when you get it... Nice cars....
Evening! Yeah, I can't wait. I was told today the bits and pieces they are changing/sorting out are going to be done on Friday......soooooo, fingers crossed! Seeing as I had a few comments on the car, thought I'd post a few of the previous ones too: e92 335 e46 330 sport e39 528 And my ol' Mini I had at the same time (when I had a garage!!) e36 325
Thanks mate! Yeah, there's nothing worse than a dull "hello, I'm new" post....might as well make it kind of interesting!
Financially restricted by mortgage, wife, daughter (another on the way!) and 2 cars fella They look lovely, without a doubt, especially the carbon like yours. The other thing is I kind of like being able to tinker with bikes myself. From what I experienced with the K1200R, there's not much you can do yourself and you are very restricted in terms of independent mechanics with the correct tools and diagnostic. I mean...on the K1200R I couldn't even change the coolant myself, as it has to be pumped back in under pressure. That and the fact a set of brake pads (parts supply only) were quoted at £220. WTF?! I had a test ride on the S1000R when they first came out. Nice, but I'm 6'2", so found it a bit cramped TBH. Never tried the RR.
Welcome Russ, you came to the right place if you like tinkering with bikes, some stunners on here. Nice cars too! Had a few on your list myself as do like a Bm.
