Anyone else buy a new SP last summer only for honda to drop the list prices by over £1200 and then offer a £1000 contribution towards one also? I know these things lose money as soon as you roll them out the showroom but its not helpful when Honda force the depreciation.
That's a kick in the nuts for sure - as you say pushes down used residuals too. Also I think the numbers sold in the UK went up this year or something / there was another batch released
Yeah there was and they made a 'TT Edition' model that now sits the SP below it further knocking its price. Shame as I love the bike it just leaves a sour taste and will probably stop me spending any more money with Honda.
It always happens when a new model is on the horizon the sp was probably only brought about to help shift all the excess blades, all the manufacturers do this I had the same thing with Ducati so know how you feel.
Yes, all makes will do this when a model change is on the horizon, they can keep making the blade and selling it until change comes.There may be some super bargains on shop floors of the old ,after the new arrives.

SP for £12,400 is a bargain. Suzuki, did this to me back in the 80's. I paid £2500 for a Suzuki GSX1100ET. A few months later they were selling them off for £1999. I wasn't a happy bunny. Nothing changes. New Fireblade on the way, lets hope its a sudden. Fireblade TT is a bit steep at £17,000, phew.
The above and also the fact that all new registered bikes in 2017 will have to be Euro 4 compliant. The Blade aint, so expect to killer deals on any Bikes later this year, any left in late December will force the dealers left holding non Euro4 bikes to pre-register them B4 Dec 31st 2016 otherwise they will end up as parts! I bought a cheap as chips GSXR1000 earlier this year due to the lead up to this!
Like the idea of that but if the new blade is out and selling in 2017 will it make that much of a difference ?
Tried a 14 Gixer when I had my K5 and I was impressed but eventually went with the Blade as the price was right and I did like them. Could have had a 0 mile pre-reg at the time for £8600 from a few places! You can't tell me the Blade is worth £2-£4k more? At the time Blades were fetching strong money.
New Blade will make zero diff to my statement on non Euro 4 compliant old stock that remains un-registered. If it aint got a plate on it by Dec 31st 2016 then it can't be sold as a new Bike.
................and that's the reason the dealers run pre-reg offers to shift stock as they can be seriously hit if they remain unregistered when the regulations change, and at their own cost. They then offer the bike for around 10-20% over cost and claim back the vat for first reg. They don't really lose out!
