this is probably a daft question is it possible just to change the brake lines on an abs bike to revert to standard and leave all the gubbins in or is only complete removal of all the crap the only option,if so how as I don't think ive got the balls to rip the lot out knowing my luck I would probably f**k the whole bike up,any help greatly appreciated as unfortunately trading in aint an option rather be safe than sorry with the brakes

I don't have an answer for you mate but surely the fact that people are willing to strip parts off their bikes as they fear the ABS issue will cause injury should be enough reason for Honda to fully look into this o_O.

Still here scratching my head. Out of curiosity does anyone know of an accident caused by this issue?

Full removal is your best option, you can however just fit lines and leave all the ABS crap in, I opted to remove the lot, pumps wiring ecu hard pipes, not a trace of it ever existing... For a fee I can remove for you, refit new lines and bleed the system.... But depends what part of the country you are?

Yeh just a tad...your better off sucking the system dry front and back then remove all the OE pipes up to the pumps, then refit the new lines, don't forget to pull the fuse from the system or your end up with loads of fault codes

interesting. I didn't know some people are removing/ disabling their ABS! Why is it so? I thought it is the best thing since sliced bread.

BTW I don't have ABS, hence the question.

Due to loads of people worldwide having the lever come back to the bar and no braking available Honda deny any knowledge of this it hasn't happened to me yet but would you take the chance?

New (2017) blade is said to have a Bosch ABS system not a Honda developed unit. The Bosch system is more advanced and a reliable system with a much lighter weight - 3.5Kg as opposed to the Honda 10Kg unit. Not much use to all the current Honda ABS riders but just something to look out for in the future in the rumours are true.

hey mate yes you can jut disconnect old brake lines and run your new ones straight from master cylinder to brake capilers but abs items add a lot of weight to the bike that will now be doing nothing but understand you I am having loads problems with my abs system aswell I have brought mine to Honda in Chiswick and they cant even tell you the problem they still trying to learn it themselves I have got a copy of the abs brake process if anyone needs it cant upload it here says its to big to upload

Back in 2011/12 I called that any real new blade would not have the Honda derived c-abs system fitted as it is fundamentally flawed!

Honda couldn't just change the system out during face lift editions of the blade/baby blade as it would be an admission of guilt that there was an issue with the design in the first place most likely leading to law suits for selling a flawed system out to the public which can lead to serious health and safety issues as well as possibly death!

But whole new bike they just say it's all new systems due to it being new bike build and developments not a flawed concept.

is this a honda problem and model specific since the whole range now has ABS (I think)
how about the other manufacturers. Do they have similar problem.
Although I read in a number of places the honda CBR c-ABS was praised by testes and even racers (I guess on bikes that worked properly!)

    Honda problem........well more specifically a cbr1000/600rr c-abs problem!

Most other manufacturers Honda included licence and install Bosch abs systems on their bikes which is a tried and tested system but honda tried to reinvent the wheel with their c-abs system in order to remove the lever pumping issue that was affecting other abs systems at the time.

Oh and as for the praises they were pretty short lived and any criticism even by long term testers in the media was pretty quickly & heavily suppressed by Honda and the media establishment...........can't bite the hand that feeds you and all that!
