Can anyone advise the what is the best to clean and degrease the chain and sprockets before I re grease was thinking petrol or brake and clutch cleaner or am I mad thx
I used paraffin on my bike. When I picked it up the chain was a real mess but I got it from this.... To this Bought the paraffin from homebase. Poured some into an old coffee jar and then clean it using an old toothbrush. Really was a doddle to do.
I tried the sprays. they are ok as a "lick and a promise" method but pricey and doesn't get your chain cleaned like in the picture frpm ridds. . paraffin, white spirit. I use kerosene, guess diesel would be similar, both cheaper than paraffin but you need to be careful not to get it on tyres, footpeg, brake disc and gear selector although a food foam wash with muc off will clear it
Job for the winter just goes to show though what can be achieved with paraffin, a toothbrush and half an hours elbow grease
Got to agree with the tooth brush and paraffin, just cleaned mine using paraffin looks good and cheaper than a lot of chain cleaners.
Always use wurth brake and chain cleaner and a cloth, then wurth high performance chain wax, both great products been using them both for over 10 years and never had a problem
