The best looking but not the best handling.....you have to be in the mood on these ...although I think I could be going back to the red side especially if they put the cans underneath again..
Got to agree, the best looking bike on the road today....closely followed by the S1000RR......sorry, but the new blade asthetically, doesn't rock my world.
Friend of mine has the 1199 he's had a custom paint job in senna grey colour looks and sounds amazing what a machine
Hi sinewave , yes i have the base model . "cooking" ? Its my first big L twin motorcycle so just adapting my riding style ( short shifting) slow is fast on this Italian Thoroughbreed. It doesnt like to be muscled around and over reved , smooth direction changes and shift gear at 8 or 9000rpm is the key to stay in the sweet spot. The 1299 is a track bike with lights so set up is stiff and after the Honda electronic steering damper this basic non adjustable one on the Ducati gets itself in a flap on our bumpy uk roads. Not sure i like the hydrolic clutch so good job i only need it to pull off ( up and down auto blipper quickshift ). The Brembo brakes are the best ive had on a motorcycle. Love the Dash but not all the electronic settings . Why have 200bhp then castrate it ? You can tell the engine is electronically held back in the first four gears but get into 5th and bang full power its a job to hold on as the bike leaps forward trying to get out of your hands. 6th gear is a waste because by the time you need it you are going way to fast! The Ducati doesnt like towns or 30mph speed limits hard work keeping low rpm bit lumpy and gets very hot ( cooking version?) . Summary This Ducati needs to live on a track
Great summary Voleracing that's exactly what I thought of if.......at least it makes your heart go boom boom every time you open the garage and when you wipe down that deep red paintwork! Plus you want to get back on it every time to see if you can ride it better whereas the blade can be a bit 3 rd gear mooed but wraps you in a ball of confidence on uk roads...,
Cooking = still being made = not quite finished. Don't worry pal, I own a poverty spec 1299 too, great bike, enjoy!
Hi Voleracing, I thought while reading your post you may be interested to know I flashed the ECU's on a few Panigales lately, the one thing we worked hard to fix was the horrible low down mapping. We can now stick them in top gear at 30mph and actually ride it smoothly, yes smoothly. We have flash kits available for them and also can map the ECU for you if you are interested? Either way I though I should let you know you don't have to be stuck with those bad manners low down. Regards Rich
Hi Rich thankyou for the comment . You must have read my mind i was considering getting the ecu flashed. Where are you based ? Regards Paul
Hi Paul, that website is very old but about to get a make over. Visit www.woolichracing.co.uk and select your bike to see all the features we have available and other goodies! We are based in Gloucestershire by the way. Cheers Rich
Fantastic bike Voleracing, just wish my wrists could still do sports bikes. Nothing 'cooking' about the 1299 IMO, superb bike, great that some of us are not concerned about bragging rights and are more real world. Enjoy mate.
