OK, so two years ago, I was having a pretty shit time. My 17 year marriage ended and I lost my job due to illness. I had nothing but a fireblade and a bedsit. Managed to crawl myself back into my career luckily and the blade got shoved in a garage as I worked all hours... A year later, after sorting my life out.. I went to reclaim my bike, put away dirty and damp. No f-ckimg excuses, It starts first time and rides fine. Then I start looking I see flowering rot in the anodised swing arm now I've cleaned it up and oiled what Ive found to stop the rot... But I need to sort out the cleanliness of the bike and hope not too much damage has been done. I can see its eaten a little into the surface and one bit if close to a weld but not into it... I'm guessing thr whole arm will need to be re coated.. But my finances just haven't recovered enough for major surgery... How shall I tackle this.... Aside from hitting myself with something I was a member before but.. I lost that email address along with about everything else I had two years ago haha..
Yeah,. I'm pretty mechanical, honest lol, but my anger is clouding my judgement.. I'm. Guessing it's salt it looked almost organic, what causes this... And who can I kill to stop it from happening to anyone else... Lol (apart from my own careless self)
More knowledgeable people on here with give you advice and your bike, but good to hear you are getting your life back in order, good for you mate.
Thanks mate. As it's now residing in my gf's garage it's defo looking up! Now just to make it look tidy..
Think you have a few choices from taking it off and having it stripped and powder coated/painted, 2nd hand unit or clean off what's bad and coat with some black smoothrite and stick some carbon protectors on and that should probably cover the worst parts.
