I used a telfirizer mount, and an optimiser power leads option for my tomtom rider. Easy enough to route the cables and no splicing in to get power.

I've also got the Garmin 590LM and have mine on a SW Motech quick release electric tank bag.
Get off the bike, click the tank bag off, walk off with the bag, bracket and sat nav. Jobs a good un. Takes 20 seconds.

An old Zumo 550 on a ram mount using a Telfetizer adaptor. Powered from an ignition powered socket.

I use my Nokia smart phone, I did have a second hand Garmin but on the Autobahn it liberated itself at 150 mph.
Used the phone with pre loaded maps of the area we were travelling, blutooth receiver on my helmet and bobs your uncle, it did very well, made riding through the cities in Ausria and Germany,France easy,,did have a couple of wrong leads but all good in the end, I have a cigarette socket installed inside front fairing then sourced a usb adaptor, make sure its the high output one. It sits in a waterproof phone holder, about a tenner on Ebay
