Voltage on bike drops to 7.5 when running so I have a charging issue.... I'm happy tinkering around myself but need opinions on this stator...... think it looks healthy or reckon it's the issue?
    All replies welcome

Test the phases between each other and to ground, there was a link I put on your other thread to electrex who have a great help section

I'll go have a nosey. This is new to me but I'm a fast learner and particularly enjoy trouble shooting.... wishlist didn't have the trouble to shoot tbh ha
When you say "phases" I assume that's the wiring that's going between the little turrets connecting the coils?

Hi, I put you on to the replacement on e-bay, when I had my trouble, this is a trouble shooting vid I watched.

Although you have ordered the parts, if you do the tests and don't need them, maybe you could cancel the order or sell them on as new.

Just for the record, when I first inspected my stator there was no obvious sign of damage, but it did smell badly of burning. Only on removal was the damage visible, as it was blown on the back.

Also after looking at your pics(assuming they are of your stator) something looks off.o_O This is a pic of another stator obviously blown, but note the allen bolts (your's seems to have blobs of weld?), and the number stamped in centre ring (no number on your's that I can see). Sorry to go on but also Honda don't usually use a gasket on the cover they just use gasket maker, which might suggest yours has been done before.

Oh no I didn't even look to notice that the bolts have that welding look. Dammit.

Honda dealer should have bolts (I think they are M6x28mm), should only be a few quid (fowlers list them at 82p +vat) you could grind the welds off , remove the stator and remove the stubs of the bolts and use original case. Saves a few quid for not much work.

I don't own anything for doing that sort of work unfortunately and I'd end up paying someone the same amount as it would cost from the case probably

If you have no grinder you may be able to cut a slot in the weld with a hacksaw blade, and use a screwdriver. I've done it with other stuff, just depends how tight it is.

Good plan. I'll pick up a hacksaw tomorrow. (I work away from home so need to build up my tools here lol.

Yeah it's worth a try, Take your time to get a good slot before you try wrenching at it. As a last resort you could just cut the weld right off with the hacksaw if you not worried possible damage to the stator. Let me know how you get on, if you need any help/advise just give me a shout.

Went back to bike and found the bolts holdingredients the stator in place were only finger tight (muppets) so I took em off and will replace with proper ones.

However..... total noob question..... how do I get the stator off!? The wiring with the plug at the end goes through a tiny hole in the metal casing.... I could cut if off of course.... but how do I fit the new stator in place so centre the plastic plug won't fit through the hole?

Remove the gasket, then you will be able to pull the rubber plug back from the casing.

Haha, I'm an idiot I thought that was metal holding it in place

All done.... bike stripped of the stator and regulator and tucked away waiting for the new parts to arrive.

    Thanks for your help
