I'd go and see a doctor/physio and sort your back and wrists out. You might find that your wrists hurt trying to take the pressure off your back or the other way around. They might get better on their own but they might not. Had a bad back a few years ago that made riding very painful and saw a sports physio. They gave me some exercises that sorted out the problem I'm put up with a couple of years in a matter of weeks. Still do the exercises now to keep any problems at bay and improve core strength which reduces the chances of me doing it again. Get that sorted out and then buy whatever bike you want most or like best and don't be constrained by lingering physical problems.
I had the opposite problem suffering with a bad back due to the upright position of a naked. Too much compression in the vertical spine. After some physio and now riding the Blade, nothing since. Now I also couldn't imagine covering the same distance on a naked as I do on the Blade.
Agree totally derchef, such an awesome bike and so much torque, loved my Blade but the Tuono stops me from missing it.
I bought two 2007 Blades similar to the OP's bike and had a number of similar issues. The OEM clip ons were just too low for my build and caused me to crane my neck and that started a lot of pain. The OEM seat is terrible and caused me to slip around, just didn't offer any support to help me stay in one spot. The bikes suffer from a lot of buzzing through the bars and caused my hands to go numb. However, after a lot of experimentation I've made them a joy to sit on. I replaced the bars with LSL Tour Match clip ons which will fit the OP's 2005, I got the seat reshaped and now even looks better too, and I tuned the vibration out of the bars with bespoke bar weights, 550gm in my case. Maybe try some of the above before abandoning one of the best made bikes Honda ever offered. Good luck.
I've been doing some exercises, on my wrist and some stretching for my lower back. A physio has told me it's actually a short hamstring that's the problem, It's tight and restricting my flexibility, so my lower back on that side is suffering. But all is going well and I've decided to stick with the blade a while longer, when for a spirited ride today(about 2 hours of mixed road) got off feeling fine no aches as yet, will see what the morning brings. Thanks for all comments and suggestions, always good to get some feedback.
Where you say bespoke, did you make them yourself or buy them from somewhere? I'd like to sort the same out with my 2015.
I had a thread on here where I described what I did. The weight required depends on many factors including your own hands sensitivity. 550gm was the mass I found worked, but I may reduce it to find where the problem recurs. Honda did most of the engineering for you. Their OEM bars have a cartridge inside, mounted to float on rubbers with the facility to fit a weight on the end. This allows you to tune the resonant frequencies by varying the overall bar+cartridge+weight mass. I assume since they sold Blades as basically track bikes the OEM bar weight is adequate for short periods. Extended droning on motorways needs a tuned mass.
Have a look here first. The Kawasaki Z1000SX should have the most comfortable position for your wrists and back as well. You can compare almost any bike here: http://cycle-ergo.com/
