Good evening gents need a bit of help from the forum. Bought MotoGP head stock stand which arrived today however the adapters to locate underneath the head stock are too small, 18mm biggest one supplied with the hole in the head stock looking to be around 28mm. Does anyone know where I can get hold of an adapter to fit the stand and the bike or is it a case of local engineering works making one? Thanks' in advance for any help. Ritchie
Whichever, I had the same problem. Used to have an 04 Blade and when I switched to a 10 plate the pin on my headstock was too small. Demon Tweeks sell replacement pins. Not specifically for your stand but I think the other end of the pin is a pretty universal size. I tried to find the order that I placed to get the size off it but I can't so you'll have to measure the hole but here's the link. They do plenty of different sizes up to 27 mm http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorcycle/front-stands/head-lift-pin
Old thread I know.... My next door owns an engineering company and has made me a couple of pins for me and a mate, however I don't like to use it as the bike stand lifts the front end with the faring rather than the pin, is this what everyone else uses or is there another way to lift a 2016 blades front end ?
I use a combo of the ABBA stand and an old Motrax front fork stand (the two offset rubber pins locate under and behind each fork)
It should lift at the head stock and not the fairing, this is the problem I had been I modified the pin from This It should lift on the head stock and not the fairing, I had to modify the pin I got from Tweets with a spacer and now stands clear of fairing. Result.
Nice setup but at the time of starting this thread I was requiring to remove the front forks for service/repair.
Abba stand may still work...they make an arm that bolts on and pulls down on the rear wheel or subframe, something...anyway it forces the front wheel up off the floor.
OK will see if he can make one with a spacer on it so that as you say it will lift with the yoke not the Fairing
There you go some pictures, but I remember now that the top section is an old car driveshaft as the adapter I got from Tweets was still too loose in the headstock, that we added the old inner bearing race to add a little more height. Hope the pictures help?
Nice one thanks bud, I will have a chat to my neighbour and see what he can make up for me. looks like the inner race is taking up a lot of space on the pin, is it still as stable ?
Didn't have any problems because upper section of pin is really good fit in the head stock. Bike was on it for 3 weeks when Ohlin forks went away to be serviced. However I wouldn't go sitting on the bike. Only problem I had was once on the stand it was in the way of the front wheel spindle, however little grease on top of that inner race and you can turn the handle bars to one side to remove spindle, result.
Will see what I can get engineered and get some photos up. Sitting in a bike that's on stands is a no no as it's all down to how well made the stands are. I am a little concerned as it's a shiny bike, about the front guard so will see what we can come up with to make sure that nothing gets scratched, and yep will try and see if I can get it to be able to rotate the front end as well. maybe thin collar of some material like a washer of sorts. Thanks for your input
