    Help,

Can anyone explain to me in the simplest of terms how the fuel gauge/range left thing works and what the counting numbers relate to ?

Having read the manual I'm none the wiser

    Thanks
    Mr Thicko.

If you have yours set like mine once the fuel light comes on it says 0.0. I have only managed to get it to 0.4. about 0.6 and you'll prob run out. I just do as you said, fuel up asap

Provided you don't thrash the arse off it, I work on the basis that 0.1 will get me 5 miles so usually try and fill up within 30-35 miles of the light coming on when working out when to stop.

Managed to get to 0.6 once but don't want to find out if it will hit 0.7!

my last Track day I forgot to fill up during one session and once I got to 0.4 on track I came in. was thrashing it so only managed 4 laps from fuel light on until 0.4 or about 7-8 miles.

    It's quite simple really.

The number tells you how much fuel in gallons you have used since hitting reserve.

When the light comes on you have 0.77 gallons of reserve fuel left.

if the number gets up to 0.7 you are pretty much running on fumes.

How many miles obviously depends on how you ride and how accurate it is I don't know.

    2011 fuel gauge fire blade

The reserve fuel on the 2011 fireblade is 4ltrs, this equates to 0.88 Gallons, so i presume the count is to let you know how much you have left of that 0.88 of gallon, obviously this is effected by how you ride a bike?i did realise that no Honda Garage i rung had a clue?,wow

Reading from my handbook for a 2010 light comes on at 3.5l (0.92us or 0.77 uk gal) beyond that I can't make head nor tail of what it says, total gobadlygook!

As others have said fill up as soon as, i have only had the light on once i got to 0.4 but when i filled up i put in 14 litres so i should of had 3.5 litres left in the tank.

In not 100% but neat sure I've had mine at 0.9, when i first got the bike the fuel light was on but I rode the bike home, once home I'm near sure it was 0.9 but I thought I had down to 0.0 until I was empty until my mate who is a Honda mechanic said it goes up and not down

Hi. I'm new on here and pick my 2010 bike up tomorrow. I was also wondering how you gauge when to fill your bike up. Does anyone zero the trip and than gauge your distance left sending on the miles you've done? If so how many miles do you judge it on?

Fuel light starts flashing at 0.0 you'll have about 25 miles left. I've had it up to 0.9 but was sweating a bit on that so I'd try fill up by the 0.7 at latest

As the other guys mentioned, light on = take it easy and look for a petrol station!
the light comes on when there is 0.7 ukgal left so if you switch the display to avg mpg, then whatever you read x 0.7 will give the range (e.g if you read 50, then 50x 0.7= 35 miles:))

Yep, every time for the last 20,000 miles.

Light comes on anywhere between 135-145 miles... after that I can do another 25-30 miles before filling up again.

On mine (Uk Standard 2012 anniversary model) it's in litres... I have 2.5l at reserve IIRC... Or was it 3.5...
