I have a 2011 HRC ABS and I think it use to have an Austin racing exhaust but I bought it with just the standard on. I've tried to change the link pipe an silencer and it doesn't seem to run right. Seems to be gargley and not a smooth sound throughout the rev range like a four cylinder should be with that scream. I don't know if the bike was mapped to the Austin racing can or not. I tried to reset ECU with new exhaust on but didn't stop the issue. It's like there's no smooth air flow. I want to purchase another exhaust but not sure if it needs remapping or a PC although the exhaust I want to buy states that you don't need to remap or get a power commander. I'm new to FI bike and new to new bikes a small I've only had old carb blades. I just want a little more noise as the original can is too quiet even with the flapper mod done. Help!

    Hi Mac86.

I can't help with your mapping dilemma, but I have the same bike with a Yoshimura R77 end can. Sounds good without being too loud.

Did you have to put a power commander in or have it remapped? Or you just sling it on an ride?
    Cheers

When you say you've tried to reset ECU with new exhaust on...is that by usual method of..
Disconnect battery for about 10 minutes
Re connect & start up. Leave to idle until fans kick in then turn off?

It was done by Honda. Plug in reset of the ECU. Idled better but still rough through the rev range. Not what you'd expect it to sound like. I'm stumped on what to do. Is it the exhaust or bike. Didn't think I'd have to remap or get a PC just for a slip on.

Hi Mac. Was on the bike when I bought it. (Was given standard pipe as well)

It's a straight slip on. I've read a few posts on here about this and the consensus SEEMS to be that a commander is needed only for a full system. I hope you get it sorted. It's too nice a machine to be worried about problems. I might add that mine has a lumpy/cammy idle and can be a bit gargly (as you say) when coasting in a low gear, but the performance on throttle is not restricted.
