Doing some super cleaning underneath my 2011 when I dropped my jaw. I think (hope?) I have been fortunate enough to score a Yoshi full system when I thought I had the end can only. (Bike purchased 1 November 2017. I'm 3rd owner) From what I see in the Service Manual, the standard system routes as a 4 into 1 collector. Mine is 4 into 2 into 1. Could someone who knows their stuff help identify from the attached pics whether this is, in fact, a full Yoshi system. The spring attachment might be a giveaway, but I just want to be sure. Thanks!!
Looks like you've got the full system there Nigel. The same thing happened to me with my Aprilia RSV 1000 I had earlier this year. Thought it was just twin Akrapovic silencers but it turned out it was the full titanium race system, apparently rarer than hen's teeth and worth a fortune for that particular bike, according to Aprilia performance who did some work on it for me. Always better to get a nice surprise rather than a shite one!!!
Thanks Paul. I'm hoping it's the real deal. Been Googling images for half the afternoon, but can't see a decent shot. Nevertheless, I'll keep working away with steel wool and WD 40 and get it looking better!
Yeah I think the dullness and grubbyness of the headers and mid section can fool you into thinking it's just a standard exhaust system as they're not easy to get at or clean so end up looking a bit crappy! Will look nice once cleaned up though!
Full system are normally straight through.... But yours looks like it has the ‘S’ bend which is the pipe and decat... Hope I’m wrong tho, and you got lucky. That above is race system I think, maybe they do another version? I wouldn’t worry to much tho, the standard headers are great anyway these days and very few people change em anyway
"I'll keep working away with steel wool and WD 40 and get it looking better!" Try this stuff, I cleaned my Micron system with it after seeing it done on youtube, It worked great. It has to be this one not just any bleach! Obviously wear gloves and try not to get it on anything else, I just applied it with a brush, let it sit a while, gave it another brush and rinsed.
As Jimbo said you have the Slip-on, it comes with the S bend which connects to the stock headers http://www.yoshimura-rd.com/images/1220020(220,520,550).pdf Lovely sound especially the crackles on the overrun
Thanks Jimbo and Slick. Yes, I defo have the S-bend. I guess that's why sulaco recommended 'Harpic'. Never, ever have I heard of toilet cleaner being used on metal. I've used stuff like 'Brasso' etc, but I'll grab some of this tomorrow and do my loos at the same time!!
Pretty sure that Yoshi and Akra full systems don't have a S bend, but that spring connection is a bit confusing. I have a Yoshi R77 slipon with S bend on my bike, and i have just a clamp, no springs. Of course the S bend + slipon have springs
NEVER, EVER, challenge a big-headed, egotistical, and always-has-to-win bloke!! Photo tomorrow with brush and Harpic in hand!!
Thanks again Wiz. My local dealer has a 2011 Tiger with standard system. I'm going to poke my head under tomorrow.
You asked for it!! Here's me in my Fireblade Forum sourced Guy Martin hat; my Forum sourced Harpic Power Max; and my Forum requested photo! As Lozza will surely know, men are not very good at multi-tasking - damn hard holding a toilet brush, posing for a pic, AND clicking a camera! Therefore, apologies for the crap shot - no pun intended, ah well, maybe a little bit.
