As above has anyone had a shot on one? If it wasnt for my new house taking up most of this year I would have taken one out. Ill be looking for a new bike next year and was trying to narrow down my options, im not fussed about the R version because you can get the standard one for about 11k that would allow you to put ohlins or ktec on it as well as the shifter/bliper for less that the price of the R I like the R1 but the fuel range which is ment to be seriously violating along with the hard seat. Ive seen some s1000rr's but the used prices of about 13.5k are a bit steep on a bike I dont trust reliability wise due to me looking into them before and finding out engine problems as well as switch gear faults ZX10r again the price and the lack off wow factor just doesnt float my boat. the paint jobs are boring. New blade is just the old version done up which I hate price wise there having a laugh
I took the R out for an hour. Extremely quick, feels light beneath you and turns very well. I didn't like the on/off throttle feel but thats a minor criticism and something im guessing you would adapt to quickly.
Ive head about the throttle as well. Apparently a map or a flash fixes that its the same on my big bang R1. So apart from that would you say its worth a shot ? Ive seen a fue reviews saying the R is only slightly better suspension wise the boss at speedy com said when I was at the bike show to just get the non R and just tune the suspension if needed due the price difference him and his wife have one thats what got me thinking a bike with that level of tech for 11k is a mega deal
Its worth trying yeah, ive got a mate whos bought one as he felt at home on it straight away. I had booked to try the standard bike but they only had an R available when i arrived. Suspension was ok, didnt feel any better or worse than the stock showa stuff on the blade but ive got mine set up compared to factory settings in the suzuki.
Now that's the info I was looking for about the suspension I'll be getting any bike set up for me then going from there the difference sounds like nothing well not enough for at least 3k more anyway you can get ohlins for less. Now all I need is this weather to fast forward so I can get a blast
I like the look of new gixer, but reading a lot about the finish is not great. Rub marks on frame, water pump covers etc
See I seen something about the finish as well but lamb chops on YouTube said Suzuki has done a great job on it. I know mcn said about the tank paint wearing through but I thought that was expected when he did over 10k with no tank protector. My zx10r had frame marks and all the engine bolts and cases were rotten and that was a 2014 bike
ZX10r no WOW factor!! Mine is a sorted KRT 10r and there is no lacking the wow factor, trust me. In regards to the Gixxer why not buy the standard model then spend the extra few quid on a ecu flash and a suspension set up. Be as good as the RR then.
I haven't tried the bike, I know several people who race them and love them. In terms of the finish, again I can only comment on my Suzuki which is a 2012 GSXR600. Admittedly it is a race bike and one which is used for road racing, so really does get used hard. The finish is nothing like Suzukis of old, look after it and it looks superb, certainly no worse than any of the other Japanese machines. I have been really impressed with it, lovely machine and I have to say that the GSXR 1000 would be my next race bike for sure. I would however only go for the base spec, as the suspension would be getting changed for Maxton/K-Tech/Ohlins and the electronics would be altered according to the exhaust system and other bits. Overall, I have been really impressed with Suzuki.
Did you ride the shape before yours? I was going to upgrade to one but when I seen the thing I just couldn't justify paying that much for something I ultimately didn't like looking at. I just wish they brought out a proper bright green paint job like mine was the krt is to dark for me
Yeah the base model is looking like the one I've been looking up k Tec ect and for the lower price you can get the full works and still come under the price of the r
I took one for a test ride when it came out earlier this year. Obviously it is spectacularly quick. i was more interested in whether it could be ridden easily as a day-to-day bike like how it handles slow running in traffic - whether it would pick up and go in any revs in any gear. I thought it was a very liveable day-to-day bike. I really liked it. In the end (as I do not track race) I bought the GSX-S1000F instead for trips abroad mostly. (my old Blade in the background ) edit:typo
I did Carlo, I had a 2014 bike a couple of years ago. Then I had a 13 plate Blade which led me to this forum in the first place. I took the plunge and bought a late used 2016 KRT bike. To be honest I did read all the reports on lack of mid range etc and they were true. I decatted the bike with an Akky can and link pipe one tooth larger rear sprocket and an ecu flash, came out with 201bhp. It really is a magnificent bike now. Full Brembo brakes are really impressive too braided lines as standard. I do like the look of the new gixxer but Ive got the 10 sorted now so I wont be changing for a while now.
Suzuki build quality is fooking shite, Kawasaki is slightly better but still shite (and i,m a massive kwak man) The gsxr does get some excellent performance reviews though Rob
To be honest this is one of the reasons I chose the new Blade. There's a long term test from Michael Neeves MCN on Youtube, where he said he loves the bike but the paint is thin on the tank and had rubbed through after 2 months and 2k miles. There's no rear hugger, the suspension gets hammered with dirt and water, the front brake was soft with too much travel and the exhaust was like a dustbin. He did say none of these were deal breakers but they needed sorting. In the end the deal was so close between the GSXR and Blade I bought the Blade because I could just get on a ride it.
