Hello, I have a rr6 and came to remove the rear hugger only to find the centre Allen key bolt is rounded off and I'm having trouble getting it out.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks Tony

Get a torx head that's slightly bigger and tap it into it with a hammer

Trouble is the rear shocker is in the way. So you can't hit it as hard.

Not sure how restricted your access is, but one method we used to use is to hammer a centre punch into the side of the Allen screw and hope it will rotate loose. Hope you have some joy!!

I have uploaded a picture to show you. Tried using a torx bit but no joy.
Is there any extractors you can buy to get it out?
    Thanks Tony

Gee, other than a major dismantle, this one's out of my league. I've even looked on You Tube. There ARE some good methods, but ALL require reasonable access. I don't envy you!

I'd pop the shock out, to gain access, that bolt can be a pain even when it's not rounded. I used the car jack method (to get better access for cleaning), looks dodgy but feels more stable than it looks. If you go this route don't forget to lock the back wheel. There are vids on Youtube if you are not familiar with the process. Good luck

Ok no problem I will try that, I have it on a abba stand. So just gonna put a bit of wood under the rear wheel to stop it dropping down.
Will I have to remove the shock completely or can I just remove the top bolt and push the shock towards the front of the bike

    Thanks Tony

Daft question but is it accessible from underneath the hugger if you take the wheel out? Maybe get on it with molegrips? Never been under the hugger on the rr6 but sure on my rrc the bracket is just thin metal so could grab the thread and turn it, hope that makes sense

Still having problems trying to get this bolt out,
    Does anyone have any suggestions.
I was gonna remove the shocker but from what I can make out I think I have to remove the exhaust.
I removed the top bolt for the shocker but didn't really make much difference.

Remove the wheel , warm the hugger with a hairdryer then its soft and cut down the middle till you get to the Allen bolt then remove with molegrips .New honda hugger only about £16 .if you scratch your swing arm don't worry New hugger will hide it hope this helps

It just might be the easy way to get to the bolt and get a good grip on it , worth a try before having to remove shock or other parts

I know what you mean cause it looks a nightmare to get the shocker out.

My old RRT was alot easier to work on

All the above are good suggestions. I’d add soaking it in penetrating oil to start, then using an old knackered narrow flat head screwdriver which has a sharpened edge (or similar object) try hammering a groove into the one half of the bolt at an angle and forcing it anti-clockwise with a hammer. Just tapping gently to start. May get it to budge and you don’t need access from above this way.
Failing that, if you don’t need it break off the hugger to leave the bolt exposed and you’ll have enough for a pair of grips to grab hold to loosen it.

    Really annoyed now.
The bolt has snapped and there's nothing to grab onto.
I was gonna just put my new rear hugger back on with two bolts, but it seemed a bit to waffey.
    Any suggestions?

You could take out the wheel then fit the New hugger and run a bead of silicon at the point of contact might work and if it don't easy to clean off
