Can anyone advise if it' easy to change the dust seals on the forks? If so .. how? ....... Thanks all
It is pretty straight forward providing you have the right tools. For example a fork spring compressor, seal driver, and something to measure the air gap as you may as well change the fluid while you have them apart. You will also need something to hold the bike that doesn't use the forks to lift it up. I have an Abba stand but anything similar would work. Is your forks leaking fluid?
Oh.... sounds like I may need to take it to the garage the lol.. Yes mate the right hand side.. noticed it today
A garage would be around £150 + VAT to service you're forks. However thats for loose forks, ride in & ride out maybe a little more. Where are you based?
Ring round a few garages mate as you may get cheaper. That quote is just what JHS racing charge for loose forks.
Dust seals or oil seals? Forks have both. Dust seals are piece of cake, just remove each fork, pop the seals off and slide new ones on. The oil seals require the forks to come apart and if yours is leaking that’s what you need replaced. Can diy it - you’ll need to make a spring compressor and fork driver. Oil level set using a lolly stick which has measurement written on it.
