Remember bing manifold crush washers

hi folks

Can anyone help me with advice on the above? Washers are, unsurprisingly, crushed! And I can’t see how to get them out without the danger of making a right mess.

Sorry I’m using a phone with a smashed screen and have made a right mess of this. Subject should be “removing manifold crush washers”

 

Just dig them out, they are soft copper or copper and asbestos like material

 

thanks - yeah they are just copper. But are firmly stuck in there.
so to get them out seems to need a punch or something to just knock into them and try to work them loose - just worried if I miss, I damage the block. Guess I need something plastic but strong

 

A small screwdriver should do fine and maybe a toffee hammer

With these wedged in I can't finish 90% of the jobs I need to do to put it back ready, so keen to sort them

 

Sorted - just tapped a punch in and worked them loose.. one of those “what were you worrying about” jobs. Cheers for the confirmation

Coming back together nicely, now just need the salt to eff off
