Hi there, I have only just joined to the forum, but want to let people know that I do have one of the official UK registered SP2. I have seen some people say that there are 35 in the UK, but I was informed that there was 32. Is there any way of us being able to work it out?
I presently have one on order, and have been making my own enquiries. From what I can decipher from both internet and my dealer enquiries is that UK was allocated 39. There are 'supposedly' 32 here now (as you point out) with the remaining 7 en-route and expected late March. I am expecting early April delivery. As we all know, it would be a brave person to rely upon internet and dealers for DEFINITIVE advice. To that end, I have written to Honda UK requesting the number of units produced (said to be 500 as you're probably aware); the total number of units imported into UK, (both to date and pending) AND advice of if there is a prospect of a further run being released. I would be happy to PM you after receipt of this detail. So Phil, are you using it for road and track, or just road? For me it will be just road and a partner for my 'baby' 2011.
Well, for what it is worth we US SP2 owners have found American Honda to be useless as a source for any information. In the last 22 days as an owners group we have accomplished more than any number of calls to Honda has. Phil, what VIN# sequence is yours? Mine is #000065. I have been trying o figure out if all the SP2s share the same 500 sequence numbers or if each market just pulls some numbers from the local market CBR1000 VIN number pool. Here is the SP2 delivery thread I have going on 1000rr.net forum. http://www.1000rr.net/forums/1000rr-general-discussion/241209-2017-sp2-delivery-thread-28.html Below is the ownership details we have managed to gather rewarding the US bikes. I reached out to as many dealers as I could and told them about the owners group and asked about the VIN number of any SP2s they had and then to pass my info on to the SP2 buyer - the idea beign to try ascertain the number of bikes and offer the owners a place to gather info and share info. The list shows the bike as either still for sale or if sold where the bike is located. The US VIN Registry to date: 31 of the 43 US bikes accounted for. Not bad for a bike supposedly never to be delivered to regular consumers. Honda flat out lied to the press and buying community. This bikes is ONLY for sale to regular consumers. They had no intention of ever directing these bikes to racing teams. We know this because Honda America don't even acknowledge the SP2 was intended to be the basis for a race bike. #2 - for sale Colorado - Interstate Honda, Fort Collins #3 - for sale Colorado - Rocky Mountain Cycle Plaza, Colorado Springs #6 - for sale California - TC Powersports, San Gabriel #7 - Colorado #9 - Florida #10 - Florida #14 - California #22 - for sale Arizona - Go AZ Motorcycles, Scottsdale #26 - Florida #29 - Oregon #32 - Wisconsin #34 - NYC #35 - Florida #37 - Wisconsin #39 - Oregon #41 - Delaware #43 - for sale Florida - Central Florida Powersports, Kissimmee #49 - for sale Texas - DFW Honda, Grapevine #50 - Washington #60 - for sale Texas - Woods Fun Center, Austin #64 - for sale Tennessee - Sloans Motorcycles, Murfreesburo #65 - Texas #69 - ? *Delivery Video is in the wild but no details yet* #70 - for sale Texas - Honda of Houston, Houston #71 - for sale Texas - DFW Honda, Grapevine #72 - for sale Texas - Al Lamb Honda, Dallas #76 - Texas - waiting on confirmation of VIN number. #79 - Texas #82 - for sale Washington - Everett Powersports, Everett #83 - Florida #85 - Iowa *
It looks as though they could be in sequence and be the first 500 numbers.......let's put it this way, mine is between 000000 and 000500 This is what it looks like in the flesh!
Sorry, Hitch. I don't know yet! Hopefully Firestarter Phil might still be active and answer. (Since there's no room under the seat cowl, it might be extra storage!! Otherwise, it might just be an ABS emergency kit)
The hole that's there was covered mainly by the fairing on the pre 17 bikes so they've had to bang a panel on it as it's showing now. There's just the usual gubbins behind it I presume
Nigel, great news. I feel your excitement Recently we had 4 SP2s at Honda of Houston. Quite the sight to see The 3 of the 4 SP2s pre-ordered through Honda of Houston gather with their last unsold sibling
And they just got a 5th SP2 - so I guess we need to take all our bikes back for a "5 SP2s at once!" photo op this weekend LOL
Yeah, I saw the four on the USA forum. Many would think there's a great demand for them, but also, there's hell of a lot of competition, the R1 being just one.
Well, while some of us have multi-brand loyalty (I have a couple TZ250s) we are all die hard Honda fans and some are CBR fanatics - a number of the local gents have multiple SP's from different years LOL I think the bike appeals to the Honda fanatic more than the general 1000cc buyer.
Hi RC. Quite true. I have been 'die hard' since my brand new CB 175 in 1970. But I am also not quite monogamous in my selection of company, favouring, just recently, the acquisition of this Italian Princess:
Did a photo shoot this morning. (The thing with SP2s is 'seen one, seen them all'. Still worth sharing though) Bike now being pre-delivered and having the 'essential' R & G tail tidy fitted:
