Please advise I recently bought an ex demonstrator standard blade with quickshifter. With all the snow etc I have not done a lot of miles. When I test rode I went straight to the open roads not into town. When in traffic I'm finding the low speed fueling really difficult. I had a 2012 blade before that was silky smooth. Is this just what we have to put up with because of euro4 or is it something I need to take back as under warranty . Any advice would be much appreciated. Ps other than that loving the bike definitely a progression from my previous 08 and 12 which were brilliant
Only done a few miles on my 2018, but I fully agree with you. Low revs in traffic - 2nd to 4th gears is quite 'fluffy' might be a better word than rough. I also have a 2011 which is about the same, so I try to keep them around 3,000 revs in traffic. Not sure if it is a fuelling problem. The 2011 is in for service now, so I'll have a better idea later in the week. Not much help to you, I know, but very interesting that the 2012 was fine. That does add credence to your thoughts of Euro 4 gunk in the system. As a point of interest, is your quickshifter up and down, or just up?
Thanks for response the quick shifter is up and down with auto blip. I agree rough was not the right word erratic would best describe it . I cannot hold a steady 3000 rpm it jumps around which is a pain in traffic and especially on roundabouts. Once past 4000 rpm perfect.
Ah, right. Mine's nowhere near like that. You'll get plenty of help tonight when all the workers are home
Mine's definitely not as happy in slow traffic as my 2015, but its not terrible. I've only commuted on it twice so far and found it's not as comfortable at low revs and constant throttle. Last time I used 2nd and 3rd as well as mode 3 and it was better, especially with a bit of clutch slip. I have commuted on a Mille before for a while, which was murderous. I think there's a few things going on, Euro 4, Honda wringing more power from the same lump and the ride by wire. It might be worth you setting up a user mode and trying the engine braking down as low as poss too. Mine doesn't surge though, it's just a bit snatchy on and off the throttle in low gears. Could be worth taking it in to see if it needs balancing?
Ah, of course, DF, Mode 3. I've been so fart-arsing around setting up my super 'User 1' that I didn't even think of the basic 'street mode'. I'll try that next time out, which I think might not be for about 10 days given that rain's on the way. Again. Sure keeps my mileage down though. Please don't don't ask me to comment on this bleedin' 'throttle-by-wire' bollocks. Give me the cables off my 2011 any day!!
On twisty I am normally in User 1 which is 1,1,3 ; otherwise I am in User 2 which is 3,5,2 like in traffic. The fueling improved with more miles done, it got a lot smoother after like 2-3 weeks of having the bike. When I had the bike after 8000 miles service the fueling felt a bit crap like when I just had the bike, but go back to normal after a tank or 2.
I find put the key in and off I go much better.......the above modes would do my head in and I wouldn't stop mucking about with it.....plus once out of warrenty more to go up the spout....don't now what I will buy next but it could even be the one that has the easiest dash settings...
Well, trick dashboards are the way of the future. But, if you prefer the retro simplicity, there's always this, but alas, there is no HRC version:
Spot on....at least I would feel I could ride the tits off it.......moped racing hmmmm there's a thought....
