It has just been pointed out to me that it is 3 years ago today I stopped smoking I haven't missed the weed surprisingly, I am probably better off financially, not that I would be any the wiser as wife and daughter see to that, and I do breathe easier than I did pre quit. So if there are any smokers out there who is thinking about giving up, I can testify to the fact that it is worth it and if I can give it up, then anyone can.
11 years for me and I used to smoke like a laboratory beagle. I have never missed them. I have to thank the no more smoking in pubs for helping me out. It only reminds me of how much smoking stinks when I go abroad now.
Recently passed 5 years off the coffin nails. Found quitting really easy after reading Allen Carr's Easy Way to quit smoking. Haven't wanted one since I scrunched my last pack up in 2013 and certainly wouldn't thank you for one now.
I've been off 60+ per day for more than 35 years now. Always had 3 packs of 20s before packs went to 25s and larger. I lit up first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Ash tray on the bedside table. Sounds so horrid now. Lit up on the way to work, whether by car or train - in the days we could smoke on trains. That ceased in about 1976 and I remember getting out of my journey half way, just for a ciggie. We could still smoke at work and in cinemas and restaurants. A different age completely. I gave up when I started to pay a lot more attention to health and fitness. Like T.C., I didn't really notice the monetary benefit, but certainly did with my health. Now, at 65, I still weight train 5-days per week and also knock up some reasonable runs - if only to keep my butt cheeks in trim for my bikes.
Good on you TC and everyone else who has given them up. Chucked them 27 years ago, probably the best decision I ever made.
On ya, Frank. You had to be the one to spoil our saintly sentiments. Maybe this might be of interest:
Good on you those who have stopped. Longest I managed was for 2 years. Sadly it's the old story of "if don't want to stop, no method will work" so gradually I started again.
