Hi Guys, My name is Lee, I am new to Blade ownership having previously had an R1, A GSXR and an Aprillia RSV4 for a week! (That's a funny story) Anyway, I've got a 2017 Blade in Matte Black, few little extras fitted and I'm loving it. I've joined this group for some help as my local dealer can't help. Hopefully if the forum is a good one I'll stick around. UK based, living in the East Midlands. Nice to meet you. Lee
Hi Lee, Plenty of good people and info on here mate, enjoy the new bike, rsv4 for a week? Sounds expensive lol
Hiya Lee, and welcome. First off, and I have no financial or registered interest: this forum is brilliant. The camaraderie, advice, harmless banter (unless you own a Repsol) and the ride-outs some have put together, make it a really cohesive group. I am in a good position to say this because I am on a few forums (MV Agusta/VF1000R Owners/C90 Owners/RVF Owners) and can legitimately say this is the best. Good to hear you've joined the 'matte black brigade'. You'll see a few on here - all in various states of modification. Disappointed to hear your local dealer can't help, which perhaps has also put others off as well as yourself. So what extras have you fitted? Hopefully a tail tidy to get rid of the atrocious big black thing hanging over the rear wheel. (Some might welcome the big dangling black thing, but I'll leave that to others' imaginations)
Welcome Lee name and shame the dealer so we can all avoid it....can't stand lack of service or care...
Don't believe him, Lee. This is the most respectful forum one could join. Many of us wear top hat and tails just to type our posts! Here's a pic of me just 5 minutes ago:
Ok, the Aprillia story. So I had the R1, Big Bang and was a very special bike for me. Mainly because I'd always wanted one and a life event made me go and get it, bit of an impulse buy. Low mileage, unfettled and just up the road from me. I poured a lot of love and money into that bike and had more torque than an R1M out of the crate. I decided that the R1 was done, there wasn't much more I wanted to do with it so I decided to sell it. Then around January I got wind of an RSV4 for sale through a friend with very low mileage (Around 2000 miles on the clock) and it had a few tasteful mods. Viewed it and did a deal but explained I needed to sell the R1 first or wait for my house sale to go through. (Another significant life event) Got to end of April, R1 still not sold and house sale not completed. Panic starts to kick in as I promised this guy I'd buy the RSV4 but no funds to do so and I was due to take part in a big charity ride in May. Eventually my R1 sold (through Cubo Moto) and I arranged to pick up the RSV4 up. I was due to take part in a Charity ride, Marshalling, on the Sunday and picked up the RSV4 the Friday before. So I'm ready for the charity ride, hurrah. At this point I should mention I had test rode the RSV4, plus the new R1 and a HP4. But the RSV4 with an SC exhaust was what I had my heart set on. My RSV4 had an Akra can and the baffles were still in, so out that went. Now I did the ride and IT NEARLY KILLED ME. 80 mile range on fuel was a minor inconvenience but riding position was awful on the wrists. I know this could've been remedied BUT I had seen a Matte Black Blade at Wheels in Peterborough several times and thought "that looks tasty" So, the Tuesday after the charity ride I found the Matte Black blade, rode up to Bradford on the Saturday to chop in the RSV4 (for more than I paid for it) and pick up the Blade and haven't looked back. Since owning I have added the Honda quickshifter (as it does up and down with blip) a few bits of carbon and fitting a Race Fit can this week. Very very happy and off to Assen next week.
Hi mate, Won't name and shame as I am going to give them a few days to sort it. If they don't sort by Friday, then I'll share. Lee
Welcome Lee. Glad you got a proper ride on the rsv to realise it wasn’t for you. You won’t Be disappointed with yer blade (I hope). Dunno about a quick shifter on the road but I know you won’t regret a racefit. Btw, keep the baffle IN. Your ears will like it but it’ll be a bizzy magnet. I’ve got one believe me.
Cheers. It's a bit late for the baffle as I've brought the black edition carbon which means no baffle, sounds epic though.
Welcome. The Race Fit is nice, LOUD but nice - I had the growler end cap fitted to my Black Edition. Enjoy
Welcome Lee. I have a matte black too. As you bought from Wheels then a trip to BSD Performance should be well within range. I had my ECU remapped there and it has made a big difference. They used my bike for a cover photo on their Facebook page too.
Black Edition, Mr Sock. https://store.racefituk.com/collections/honda-cbr1000-rr I had Racefit Growler until I found that an imbecile had welded Yoshi link pipe to my headers. Racefit honoured their T & Cs and refunded, which is a service not many companies would stand by.
