Don't let distance put you off. I would rather drive 6 hours for a mint bike than 2 hours for a not-so-mint. Drove from Midlands to Glasgow (and back) earlier in the year to view a mint MV Agusta F4 1000R - and then purchased it!
He was last on forum on September 4th. I wouldn't hold too much hope of his reply. Perhaps scan ebay and Auto Trader in case it's on there.
Cheers chaps - no doubt it went quickly at that price with that spec but worth an ask! I've set up my alerts on ebay and am scanning autotrader so am sure something will come up soon... as you mention their are some in eBay but they aren't always as advertised in person.. it's been a wierd winter in that prices seem to generally be higher than they were in the summer?!
I noticed that over last couple of years, there's less bikes for sale so there not fighting on price, but there are still cheap bikes about, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2013-Hon...340717?hash=item363d0aa0ed:g:vKYAAOSw66Nbbcon this went only last 24hour https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/honda-cb...639152?hash=item3d7eefa330:g:qSsAAOSwDsZcNkv3
Thanks for the links. Strange given that what does come up doesn't seem to shift... or maybe all the good examples fly off the shelf before I catch them. I actually first saw those bikes on eBay a few months back. I am viewing a couple this weekend that are local and look good on paper but may reach out to the red one you linked if they don't live up to expectations.
The keys to buying a top bike is to strike quick or hang out for the right one. Don't cop the red one as a compromise because there's high odds of regretting it later.
...also, worth trotting down to your local dealer and being friendly about letting him/her know your in the market. Any mint trade-ins and you'll be first on the call list before they advertise it. Worth a punt?!
yep definitely worth letting your dealer know. I got first refusal on about 3 different bikes that way! Also, my 08 is still for sale if it's of interest - it's in a local dealer. Their website hasn't got much info, but here's my ad: https://www.1000rr.co.uk/threads/lovely-black-rr8-non-abs.35504/. It's at silverex in braintree, essex (http://www.silverexmotorbikes.co.uk/)
how's it a compromise with 5000 miles on it, for 6.5k, colour do u mean? i'd offer him less anyway dealers put a grand on any trade ins, no thanks
Thanks for all the replies, the nearest dealer is as far as Chiswick for me I think but worth a punt for sure. I think I fall in the latter of waiting around too long for the right one! But in all honesty it’s always been a tos up between the all black and the red so colour wise I’d be happy with either but it’s just finding the right well looked after bike.
