So it's time to replace my tyres, do I go for the 2CT or the Power 3 , the price is pretty similiar but I've heard the Power 3 can sometimes develop a ridge between the two tyre compounds, where as the 2CT doesn't seem to suffer from this. Also any other advice on any other differences between the two tires would be great. Currently I'm going to go for the 2CT Thanks Bike CBR1000RR 8
Wouldn't bother with either, if you want a Michelin the Power RS is in a different league. It also lasted 600 miles more than my last Pilot Power 3 so for the extra cost it's worth it. Not that there is anything wrong with the others, just that technology has moved on.
I'm with Blade Runner 1 on this, Michelin Power RS's, brilliant tyres if help on road or track, PLUS if you buy a pair Michelin are doing discounted track days around the UK if bought before the end of July.
I vote for none of them too. I think they have not enough grip for a 1000cc bike ! Especially if you like to ride fast.
Thanks went with the Power RS in the end, not a massive difference in price but reading up on the tech info a huge difference in performance..I’ll check in and let you know how I get on..I was originally running on Power 2CT’s which felt real good but a little slippery in the wet, I ride the same road everyday, so it will be easy to tell I paid £160 rear and £130 front
Good choice, don't forget if you want a cheap track day because you've bought a pair of Michelins you can get it here. http://www.powerdays.co.uk/
How are you getting on with the Power RS? It's time I replaced my OEMs and I can't decide between the Power RS and Road 5.
Interested too as needing to replace tyres soon, I have Pilot Powers fitted and have been happy with them, good grip and wear etc, but time maybe to consider something a bit more technically advanced.
I’m no tyre guru and I don’t race or do track days but i do drive like an insane moron and since moving to the RS’s I havent had a singld uh ooh moment with sudden lose of traction, the old 2CT would suddenly break lose quite badly at the most inconvienant moments, since having the RS’s traction and corning and wet weather riding is really spot on..i’m sure tons of tyres are an upgrade to my old tyres, so it shouldnt be a surprise to hear there are only positives from me Not sure about wear at the moment as i havent done enough miles but i’ll update this thread when anyone asks
On my second rear Power RS now. First one lasted longer than any other tyre I’ve had on the blade and still not had any moments wet or dry. Highly recommend.
Some might get bored with never-ending tyre threads, but with advancements in technology, for me they are always informative. I'll take note of the Michelin Power RS. More than happy with Pirelli Diablo and Super Corsas, but will now consider the RS and Metzler's M7RR for my VTR.
I've decided to go for the Road 5 through the Winter. Michelin are doing £30 cashback on the Road 5s amongst others during September. Participating dealers only unfortunately and my local dealer isn't one of them. BTS in Sale quoted £285 fitted, so £255 with the cashback. Shame they are 135 miles away.
