has anyone recovered a seat, my wifes sv650 has a tear in it, and looking to cover it, im a little unsure of the staples though, the idea of staples seems wrong, but i know they use them from factory.. has anyone done it? had any success?
Been looking at this myself and like you totally not sure about staples!! Want to recover my seat with something a bit gripper as the standard faux whatever it is on the standard seat on my rr9 is as slippery as a greasy ferrit!!
1. you have to buy a aftermarket seat cover like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_...0.H0.TRS0&_nkw=sv650+seat+cover&_sacat=183728 2. Have a look on YouTube "how to do it": https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=sv650+seat+cover 3. Or let a professional trimmer do the job for you ( he did my custom seat ): http://www.ajtrimming.co.uk/ I did it myself on chairs and it wasn't difficult.
Thanks for the links. I've found covers and watched some ..How toos. I've also seen some really nasty after pics as well .it doesn't look difficult.
I think @PauloHRC 's calling it the 'Hugh Hefner' in his new bespoke seat covering business he's setting up. Just in case any forum members want to order it ( before they're sectioned)
done 100,s and jetski too (being an upholsterer ) for outdoor like jetski you really need stainless staples but on bikes can get away with galvinised ( i spray paint mine while still on the strip before use . And you can get any length you want from 2mm upto about 16mm . if your anywhere near Lincoln i will pull it on for you
Suzuki seat looks top class. Great job. If I were unfortunate enough to own a Suzuki, I'd definitely buy one of those.
haha dont tell anyone i tried a gsxr once . the pair with criss cross stitching is for Honda c90 / cub bikes done a few for him its BSB Lee Jacksons dad
Have you never seen suede/alacantara seats before?? They're not uncommon you know haha......now it's on the bike I'm not so sure, my main aim was to get a bit of grip! It's not easy when your on the anchors slamming down the gear box with the back wheel in the air and your bollocks are squashed against the tank you know!!
They might be common down Southern Softie land but for gods sake man you're a northern lad Stop being a tight git & get a Honda e comfort seat bought....your plums will think they've gone to heaven
I have a genuine Honda comfort seat on my 2015 SP but the seat I had recovered and gel pads inserted, by Vikings in Kent was more comfortable, to the point I'm considering getting another one of theirs.
