For those looking to pay a visit to Switzerland next year be aware of the extremely harsh penalties for speeding, have been watching BVG, reporting that he has been fined 4000 Swiss francs for 144 kph in a 80 kph limit the on the spot fine had to be paid immediately and apparently was only 2kph under the limit for having bike confiscated, he was also banned for riding in Switzerland for 3 months
It made me wince when they mentioned that bit ! I knew they were on borrowed time really. I thought they would have been caught on the B500 because that has a reputation for catching people as well. I knew they would get caught out sooner or later ! but the size of the fine - oh ! Handy website ! http://www.speedingeurope.com/switzerland/
The reality is that they have lost lots of income with the clamping down an their dodgy banking system and this is another way of removing money from peoples pockets and this time its legal. Been there, done that in Switzerland years ago on one of our bike raids to Monza, well over 10 years ago and 300 quid was removed from my pocket, as was the same amount from the other 5 guys in the group for speeding on the motorway Like the Baron we vowed never to set foot back in the place
the reality is that they went abroad racing the roads just about everywhere and basically pissing on local traffic rules.... now thats all fine with me but dont start moaning like a little bitch when caught.... switzerland (and norway) are well known for serious fines so if they did a tiny bit of research before they left this would never have happened. Germany is a little cheaper but the way those guys rode there they just got lucky to not get caught causse that would have been nasty too places to race on the road are rapidly dissappearing here in europe....france and belgium arent great either and getting worse every year...
I thought everyone knew not to speed in Switzerland, even Jezza Clarkson said he would not speed in Switzerland and he's not usually one to obey traffic laws.
This. It’s well known, those 2 shouldn’t moan about it...we have done Switzerland for a few years, and if you speed, your fekked.... didn’t stop one of the lads going through a tunnel on the back wheel with loads of cameras though....we’ve been very lucky, but if we did get done, then we’d take it... Lovely country with epic roads....it just begs you to nail it. It Would never stop us, it’s amazing for bikes. We’ve had tickets in Germany, Italy, Prague etc... no point moaning about it, we know the rules so take it like a man.
