Hi guys and girls, seasons greetings.

I got a taylormade rear hugger for a 2013 non abs fire blade and I'm having issues fitting it, I cannot seem to the area in the picture underneath the rear shock adjuster, it's too tight, has anyone fitted one of these or can anyone offer any advice?

    Thanks

    Rob

Have you removed the standard hugger?

Mines a 13 plate but a power bronze hugger, the shock just slots in the gap, should fit straight in from above, I didn't even take the wheel out to fit

The fit is too tight there does not appear enough room between the shock and underneath to get the new hugger in and underneath the shock

That's a weird one that, not sure if you need take the wheel out with taylormade maybe and slot it under? Does look a thin gap tbh compared to the ones on eBay, from what I remember I never had any issues with mine

Yes all that looks ok, there just isn’t enough room between the recess in the hugger to slide underneath the shock

I'd say from looking on eBay the gap looks like the earlier model 08-11 fitting rather than the 12-15 fitting that could be the problem, the ones without the cut out fit 08-15 but with the cut out are year dependant by the look of it

That's exactly my thoughts that the wrong year hugger has been supplied. It really is a straight out and in job - I've done 3 different ones on my 2011.

Thanks it looks that way, thanks for your help, looks like it's the second year in a row that the wrong product has been supplied, even though it was clearly stipulated that it was for a 2013 model.

Perhaps drop the shock and see if it fits the bolt holes, if it does just chop the centre bit to clear the shock and it would go on

My wife got it from the states and it’s been a nightmare she paid a lot of money and the company she bought it from are speaking with Taylor made to see if they sent the wrong one, can give you an update once she has heard from the company, if you want.

Holes match and having paid over £250 I am not cutting anything as clearly the company have sent the wrong one, so we are making them sort it out.

So the hugger is fixed well it will be this weekend, having been put in touch with the owner of Race Taylor Made in America and finding out that he is english, he has put me in touch with a good friend of his who lives about 30 mins away from me, and he is going to sort it out for me.

Very pleased to be able to sort it and will end the saga of my backpack and back getting soaked and filthy in bad weather.

Wonder why he doesn’t sell this in the UK then as I don’t really want to pay import taxes/shipping tbh

I don't know, but the quality is good in my humble opinion, but that is not to say that the UK sellars are not as good. Have to commend his customer service though.
