Hi Guys Anyone know what you can and can’t do converting a road bike to a track bike as regards to getting rid of the front lights loom so I can tidy a mess up? Thanks
Hi, the wiring loom diagrams can be found online easily. The front loom basically goes down to nothing, I went and stripped whole main loom. Though dont think that is worth the hassle too much to be honest. As rear wiring for rear light etc all a sub loom and easily removed. But the front yes alot can be removed. As can seen haha. Fronts easy to strip and tidy. Or just cut the wiring for headlights, mirrors, flapper, horn etc
Top pic is the front loom finished after trim down for track prep. Also relocated the regulator wiring/adding abit so can mount above generator Haven't done a pic of the main one finished as you wouldn't really tell unless got very good eyes HRC will be alot more streamlined as such- few extra connections for the other parts you can add and various sensors etc. Some parts that are hrc only fit hrc loom - obviously costs money, compared to stripping loom yourself. My next thing is to direct wire in the quickshifter as the coil harness is a subloom itself so q/s will go straight to coil plugs and the coil loom will come with the q/s as such if i want to remove. Saves having a million plugs and wires there. Not that it really matters but hey something to do
Thanks Vic, the back was pretty simple as the majority you can unplug and put out of the way, I’m just looking to tidy this up without really stripping the loom if that’s at all possible, otherwise would you say tape it all up and leave it, I’m not to competent with electrics just don’t want it to throw any fault lights
If you just want quick job its bit common sense for cutting, as you no the horn wires for example you dont need, so cut at lowest point as such. Same with mirror wires and so on. Thats quickest way
