I've used a variety of lubes and waxes and still go back to the old faithful. I've used stuff from motul, muc off, wurth, gt85 and my most recent purchase wd40 chain lube and wax. All claimed to be anti fling (which is what I was after), but they weren't and coated the chain in white gunk and the bloody stuff when everywhere! So every time I've gone back to the tried and tested normal wd40! 11yrs of using the stuff. Works a treat, lubes and cleans the chain as you use the bike and doesn't produce a horrible white film. (Although for cleaning I use kerosene and cleaning brush) Result in so many ways. But that's just my opinion as others have theirs.
I use Motul Factory line, rarely do I get fling unless you apply thick amounts. WD40/Kerosene for cleaning
Never used wax. Does it penetrate the rubber seals inside the chain or lubricates only the chain outside?
I use motul c2 but it does fling and then when you wash the bike and get it on the sponge it fu### the sponge up
That's yellow, will hide the swirl marks better than a black gloss in the sun. A sponge just traps the dirt between the paint and the sponge and drags it around the paintwork
From a decent cleaning forum I frequent. Imagine automotive paintwork with your typical dirt and grit paricles stuck on the top of the paint, that you want to wash off to reveal your car's shine. Some of these dirt particles are sharp: Now, if you place a sponge down ontop of these grit particles as you would do if you were washing your car with a sponge, the grit particles become trapped between the face of the sponge and the paint - they have no where to go owing to the flat face of the sponge: When you wipe the sponge across the paintwork, you wipe the sharp grit particles straight across the paint. As they move over the paint, the dirt particles leave a thin hairline scratch:
Frig, that's nice. Almost makes me want another one! Remember how all the VTR forum guys would hang it on the yellows? But I am an exception (and exceptional) because yellow is my fave colour. Don't really know why - could be my hidden extrovert side. My racing bike was yellow, w-a-y before Yamaha latched on to it!!
Very true and science backs it up. I have a similar problem with my complexion when using a sponge, so now I always take care to rinse first and then dab softly at any blemishes. I'm sure @Lozzy will support me on this
They all look like that after using compound mate, to keep it like it I would say nano/ceramic coat it.
As well as the haircut kindly suggested by @nigelrb..... some larger ears may help too, although I appreciate it's probably a Norfolk normality I made a clay image of you last night to stick pins into...but I've adjusted the ears to show how much better you'll look for the operation and the haircut
Fu## me nigel I’m glad your not here My barber was dreaming over an 848 and forgot how long I wanted my hair Thought I was in the army
I use Motul chain lube and WD40 for cleaning the chain and fling off the wheels and anywhere else it gets. It's normally only the odd spot though as I use it very sparingly. I prefer the chain to look nice and clean and gunk free!
Use chain wax, but ONLY use it AFTER a bike run when the chain is warm it will seep right into those pesky links. Well that's what I do but it's a free world and you can do what you want I suppose
